Whitetail hunting in Finnland

Hi there,

This year I did my first trip to Finnland for whitetail hunting. Finnland is very uncomplicated and import of the Weapon was so easy. Thank you EU! However for some reasons I forgot my camera, so Apologie for the little and poor pictures.

We were a group of three hunters and hunted in two different areas. The accommodation was simple but had everything what you really need, including a lot of beers.

The hunt was a mixture of a "Finnish" style of driven hunt where they use small dogs like dachshund... for me it didn't look like a brilliant idea but it has to do something with their law. But most of the time we were sitting in blinds and high seats which was way more successful.

Every hunter shot at least one whitetail. I shot my in the evening and afterwards I had a lot to drink with the guys. So here the pictures, enjoy.

That is a very nice white tail. Congratulations! I was not aware that you could hunt white tail in Finland, let alone get a good one like that.

Congratulations and thanks for posting this.

It never occurred to me that Finland would have whitetails. I looked up the back-story and four (4) were sent from Minnesota in 1934. Looks like they did very well!

I hope they consider themselves as blessed as I do to share the woods with whitetail.

A very respectable whitetail for Finland or anywhere! Congrats and thanks for a unique hunt report.

There are supposed to be some other populations in Europe. I am thinking they are in the Czech Republic, but I am not sure.

Congratulations.

I did not know that you could hunt white tail deer in Finland.

That is a lot bigger than what we have in NZ

The buck I shot, wasn't even the biggest one. On the cameras was one which was even a bit bigger.
