Saeed now wants a full address for the listing:

I will delete all offered hunts that do NOT include COMPLETE addresses starting tomorrow.

So I suggest you edit your offers, and add your address and any other relevant details.

Giving just a link to your website or just an email is NOT enough.

I think this is new.

I think Saeed's new requirement a very good thing; it minimizes bait-and-switch and blame-shifting.

And it will only help the cause of the good operators.

Marius Van Deventer is as ethical and straight up as they come. I think he has posted all his contact information here.

I have hunted with him and his outfit twice, once in April 2007, and again in 2008. Both trips were outstanding, and I took all the animals on my list each time. He has a first rate lodge and staff and runs a very good operation. If all continues to go well here, I intend to hunt with him again in 2010.

Marius,

Welcome to the forum. Smiler and I'm sure it'd be appreciated if you could also post your website address and any additional trophy fees.

Steve,

The website address is in the forum post and under my name at the end of the post.
On the website all the trophy fees are posted, plus photos of hunters who have hunted with us, lodge information and map with the location of the farm.

Thank you,
Marius

Marius,

Bwana, if that's meant to be your web address, you've missed out the www and put in an @ instead of a .

If you look at the web addresses at the bottom of my post, you'll see the websites are coloured and clickable if the address is correct...... You might like to check this: http://forums.accuratereloadin...2100588/m/1451093911 for the reason I point this out. Wink

The address you've posted is africabushveldsafaris@co.za

whereas, I think the address should be: www.africabushveldsafaris.co.za

You also need to post trophy fees etc for any other animals the client can hunt.

Shakari--You need to get a life. If you can figure out that Marius left off the www on his website address, others can too. You make a regular practice of picking nits and hammering people that don't see things in exactly the same shade of light that you may be sitting in at a particular moment. You are taking a cheap shot.

Marius is a legitimate outfitter and PH, and I have had the pleasure of hunting with him twice and visiting in his home with his family on several occasions.

For what it is worth, I can call him on his telephone in Addo, South Africa from my house here in the U.S. at the number he has listed in his post and talk to him. I have done so on numerous occasions. He is legitimate and not hard to contact. He has his trophy fees on his website.

I don't see your phone number in your post, or your listed trophy fees. Have you left something out, or don't you have a phone? What are your trophy fees? Or are we missing something? Lighten up, man. Life's too short.

I belive Steve is doing more to keep the new guy from getting in shit from the owner than he is trying to "nit-pik" or take "cheapshots".

Steve makes good points that pertain to Saeeds rules & knows what he speaks of.

Its also a better bet than someone will "hit" this offer if a direct link to his website is posted.

And where did Steve question the integrity of this outfit that makes you need to justify Marius' operation?

In regards to Steve leaving out his trophy fees, phone number etc.....show me where hes advertising in this reply!

Sheesh Confused

BTW, Marius, it seems like a good offer, I will be checking out your site.

The sad part is that we have many people who contact ME for information they are unable to get from posts posted by outfitters.

I don't have the time to be a PR man for those who do not include all the details, hence my request that ALL details should be dispalyed in the same post.

Giving a link to a website or just an email address and saying "contact me for further details" is not enough.

Like everything we offer on AR, it is free of charge, and outfitters and PHs can help us as well as themselves by including the complete details.

Sharpsguy,

You're shooting from the lip with those comments bwana.

I was, as cmfic1 points out, trying to help the guy, not cack him out.

Saeed has just said (see here: http://forums.accuratereloadin...2100588/m/1451093911) he needs all the correct info on the offer to be posted or he will delete it. - I didn't want to see that happen. (Especially to a new member!)

Regarding the web address, it certainly wasn't obvious to me that was a website address and I'm sure it wouldn't have been obvious to some others at least.......... more to the point, every time a correct web address is published on the net (here or anywhere else), the more often it'll be crawled and consequently the higher the site goes in the search engine rankings, so it's in Marius' own best interests to have the error pointed out and for him to correct the error.

As to prices, if you read Saeeds posts at the top of this particular forum, you'll see he asks that all offers have all prices posted on the offer rather than a 'contact me for further details'.

As I don't offer special deals here (or anywhere else), my prices are irrelevent to this. However, if anyone wants to know about where we operate etc all they have to do is click the relevent link in my signature.

Nor does my post criticise the guy or the legitimacy of his operation in any way, so quite where you got that idea from I don't know!

Like I (and cmfic1) said, I was trying to do the guy a favour. Roll Eyes

Shakari--My mistake. I actually thought that Marius was clear about both his contact information and the cost of the hunt he was offering. He listed the number of days and nights, the animals to be taken, and gave a price that was all in, no additional fees other than tips which are at the total discretion of the client. Granted, he did neglect to use the www in front of the web address, but that wasn't hard to figure out. A poster previous to me also thought that all the relevant information was in the post as well. But, my bad.

I do know from direct personal experience that Marius will show you a great hunt and African experience, and if you are looking for kudu, he is the go to guy.

Marius,

A pleasure to be of help.

Sharpsguy,

Apology accepted. Wink

I can really understand why Saeed needs people to post FULL details here because I'm sure every incomplete offer probably brings him umpteen PMs that he doesn't have time to, or can't answer......

Probably the best way for someone to learn what sort of hunt offer info needs to be posted is to look at what the other regular posters here put into their posts.

Just some of the guys who's posts spring to mind as always having all the correct details are: Infinito, Mark Young, Andrew McLaren, LDK & Wendell Reich.

and hey, not nit picking at all. The devil is in the detail and it's the detail that ensures a seamless and problem free safari! Wink

Marius,

Welcome to this forum. Smiler

Your offer, which now complies to all the requirements, is a good one, and a special one. Special, in that the price for the hunt does indeed show a very considerable discount from your normal web-site prices. Just BTW, and for those who care about such things, his undiscounted website prices are not to be sneezed at either, being close to the median in most cases.

Wish you all the best with your marketing efforts! Wink

A bump for two good guys, Marius and Andries. I did my first safari with them in 2003 and we had a great hunt. Their accomodations are even better now and the price is below what I paid back then. With airfare and perhaps throwing in a few other trophies plus the wife to accompany you for 10 days, you can have a great hunt for an excellent price.

I'll see Marius and Dave at the Harrisburg show and bend their ears over a beer.

I do believe my shooting buddy is taking this hunt. He was all up and excited about doing Africa and I pointed him here to AR and I think he actually booked THIS hunt and will be going in a few weeks!

Yes, sir. That would be me and I definitely have you to thank for pointing me here and mulling over a bunch of possiblities in the course of planning. It's good to have someone in nearly identical shoes trying to plan out a similar trip as a source of inspiration and reflection. You've most certainly helped a ton in getting me steered in the right direction.

In my case, I'm actually doing a slightly different package than the one advertised here. The package I'm booked for is the shorter/different game setup in the form of "Package 1" on Marius' main site:

http://www.africabushveldsafar...efault.asp?iID=IMLFM

You and I discussed it at length and you know that the Gemsbok is MUST Big Grin hence why I went with a shorter package that included one (well, that and the fact that I'm burning a lot of leave on this trip as it is and can't really do a 10-day).

From all accounts, Marius runs a first-rate operation and I'm sure it's going to be a great time, especially for an Africa newbie like myself. I spoke with him this weekend as he's getting all the snow he can handle in my home state of Pennsylvania. We chewed the fat on some of the great things there are to explore outside of the hunting fields and I'm really excited to indulge in the experience.

I also need to thank twoskeptics profusely for the amazing amount of help he's given me on the planning side and helping me fit a package to my limited budget that features exactly what I want to pursue. He's also fielded a ton of questions and facilitated a lot of the logistics on incredibly short notice.

The bottom line is this board is great: I found an affordable hunt to help fulfill a dream, found some great people to help me out along the way, and found a new place to read and post about shooting and hunting. It doesn't get much better than that.
