Any animals available that are truly free-range? For example, I heard that Vaal Rhebok (mountains), mountain reedbuck and some Nyala and bushbuck might be hunted free-range. This said, I also heard that all of south Africa is private and has a fence somewhere.

bcap: Camp is 2,000 acres but not a lot of common plains game. There will be some of the more premium game. It is a dedicated bow hunters ranch. The new lodge & bar area are under construction and at this time I have few additional details. Plans are to open in July so I hope to have full details when I'm there this Summer.

Talus: Most all private ranches in RSA have high or low fence. If you have dangerous game, by law you must have escape proof fencing. If your a hunting ranch, you don't want expensive game (Roan/sable/bontebok/etc) escaping. Many plains game animals will stay within an area surrounded by low fence. We have an open 130,000 acre conservancy with little fencing (old cattle/sheep fencing) that most of it is down. Kudu for example come and go. We have quota's there, so those that wish to hunt this area should request so sooner than later. Some private ranches combine with neighbors to hold over 100,000-300,000 acres and although they may have a perimeter fence, you are not hunting penned animals. You'd be surprised how many countries to the north have fences, but due to size, you'd rarely see them. LDK

Buffhunter63 Yes, packages include daily rate and trophy fees. Gratuities are at the hunters discretion.
There are no hidden or surprise expenses. You may add additional animals at the current cost of the trophy or if you need to swap an animal or two, I can sort that out. This is not a cull hunt, or pushing you to take game with milk still on their lips. I hope each hunter takes a mature animal and I rely on our guides to do their best to avoid such mistakes. LDK

Gentlemen, Trust me this is the REAL DEAL...a FANTASTIC place to hunt. I have been very remiss in not yet publishing a hunting report on this hunt that David put together for me on the Eastern Cape to complete the two animals I needed to compolete the SCI African 29 Award ...Southern Roan and Aoudad/Barbary Sheep.
We had completed a 94 day cruise from Auckland to Capetown and wrapped up on this hunt, and a photo safari up in the Timbavati Private Reserve for my wife....trust me, my wife actually enjoyed this Lodge, outstanding food that exceeded both quality and quantity of that on the cruise...and the incredible quantity of game...including 2 small herds of Cape Buffalo and 8 Rhino within the lodging area of the camp!! Now that is AFRICA!!
PH, Richard was OUTSTANDING as were his trackers, excellent trophies....I have done a number of Ranch hunts...and this was TOPS!!
David, THANK YOU FOR ARRANGING THIS GREAT WRAP UP HUNT!! EVERYTHING YOU SAID IT WOULD BE!!
Enjoy!!
Cheers,

470EDDY

Jeremy, you can book a spot and stalk on any of the 5 ranches you choose or visit several if you have enough time. However, in July we plan to open a new ranch about 2 hours from Jo'burg that will be for archers only. Send me a message of what you'd like to pursue and I'll give you some suggestions on which area to hunt. We have mountain regions (Stormberg & Waterberg), rolling plains, creek bottoms, thick bush etc., take your pick. Best regards, David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
