Still have a couple of these hunts that we want to get rid off:

The hunting area is Crooks Corner. The area borders the Greater Kruger National Park. I will not post this hunt on AR if I do not rate this hunt as good enough. This is a "dry" hunt in Mopanie and River Jesse, not unlike Zimbabwe:

I will try a lower day fee, and higher trophy fee to benefit those interested. There is not a lot of Plains Game in the area, and Plains Game can be hunted at a Trophy fee only cost in South Africa.

Arrival day:
$150.00 Sleep over and dinner cost
$250.00 Airport Transfers
$400.00 Total

Travel day:
$150.00 Sleep over and all food and beverages on the road included.
$250.00 Transfer fee - the drive is about 7 hours long, and we will be in camp during the middle of the day/early afternoon
$400.00 Total

Hunting Days (7):
$600.00 per day = $4,200.00

Travel back day:
$150.00 Includes accommodation and all food and beverages on the road (hopefully it will be a cold Buff tenderloin sandwich)
$250.00 Transfer fee

Departure Day:
Free Breakfast
$250.00 Airport transfer

Trophy & License fee:
$5,000.00 + $1,250.00 = $6,250.00

Other fees and charges:
$300.00 Gov. Hunting License
$300.00 Rifle Import
$500.00 Dip and Pack

Looking forward to your inquiries.

Smoking deal in an area I've always wanted to hunt. That jesse should be more than entertaining. Unfortunately, I'm otherwise occupied this year or I'd definitely be interested.

So, 5250 plus 1100 in other fees and charges. 6350 out the door. Correct? Is there a tented camp or permanent in Moz? Is cover dense enough for double rifle distance? Are you the ph on this hunt?

Best, Tom

This is the first advertizement for a safari that did not list "gratuity" under charges or fees not included that I have seen. When gratuities are listed under Not Included fees or charges there is a "thin veiled" suggestion that you are expected to give a gratuity. Thus in my view, this is an assessment not truly a gratuity. Webster defines gratuity as: "a gift of money, over and above payment due for service; tip. that which is given without claim or demand." So if you choose to hunt with infinito, all charges are listed and if you choose to give a gratuity, it will truly be a gratuity.

Thanks Hoot!

Let me summarise this for you:

Total Day fees and Road Transfers:
$5,650.00

The Road Transfers tack up a lot here, as do the sleep over charges.

BUT you are NOT sleeping over at Africa Sky Guesthouse and you ARE not flying an extra commercial/charter flight!!!!!!

Trophy fee and license:

$4,000.00 + $1,250.00

Government charges:

$900.00

Total hunt cost all included: $11,800.00

Add Leopard for trophy fee of $9,000.00 and license fee of $2,500.00

Hunting area lies between Nuanetsi and Limpopo rivers and stretches north of Nuanetsi....

Hoot Murray - could not have said it better myself and I have made a policy to not hunt with an outfitter who states "tips gratuity" not included ie, demanding one.

I would hunt with infinito and wish them good luck on this great looking hunt!

See summary in post above. Yes on double gun and depending on dates I might be the PH. Lodge building with tented accommodations. It's a neat camp and def. My favorite in Africa at the moment......

Jan,
From your post, you consider a "gratuity" as an assessment or charge so maybe you should just include the "gratuity" in the listed costs of the safari. I would prefer it that way. At least one would know what the assessment is and how many people are involved and how much to each. This way there would be no surprises at the end of one's safari.

Gracias,
Hoot

Hoot , as you could probably tell , the remark was tongue in cheek Big Grin I do not consider a gratuity a charge. Everyone gives as they see fit , or not. If you looked at my past posts considering tips you would read that. I do however think that outfitters do include it under the not included items more out of habit than anything else. No one seriously has that added to pressurize a hunter to give a tip. If they did , they wouldn't be serious outfitters would they ? There are more serious things to worry about when considering an outfitter , misrepresentation of his area , lying about his success rate , using other outfitters pictures and the list goes on...
I did find it humorous though that you wouldn't book with an outfitter that listed tips as not included , and hence my remark to include it. Wink
Either way , I make a living from hunting not tips. Smiler

Happy hunting

Jan,

Thank you for your post, it was civil and informative. Please accept my apologies as I did not understand that your post was "tongue in cheek". I had better check into what the symbols mean.

It was not I that said that I would not hunt with an outfitter who posted gratuities as a not covered charge. It was another person on this thread. In fact, I have been on numerous safaris and have always given tips which amounted to a pretty substantial amount of money. I have hunted with those who post gratuities under not covered costs and will do so in the future. One has to understand how the "game" is played and knowing that makes it somewhat palatable. Again my thanks and hoping that your living from hunting does you well.

Muchas gracias,

Hoot

I joined your group on FB because of this hunt and I wish I had the money available this year to go back to Africa, but I went last year and had a fantastic time. Cape Buffalo is what I want next, I just have to finish paying for this last trip so I can start saving up for the next. Hopefully you will update us on the hunts, or those on here who booked them will share with us how they went. I'd love to hunt Cape Buffalo anywhere except South Africa, but the cost is so much more that I keep going back to looking at a fenced hunt. Your rates are as good as South Africa with what I feel would be a much more memorable experience.
