I know everybody is occupied with thoughts concerning C0VID 19 but life goes on and we will continue to hunt in the future.

Kelly Vrem/Rough and Ready Guide Service has 4 brown bear openings for Oct 2021 and 2 openings for May 2022. His area is in the Becharof National Wildlife Refuge and adjacent to Katmai National Park that is a bear factory. Kelly's success for the last 5 years has been 94%. One hunter in 2016 did not get his bear. This hunter just did not see a bear large enough to go after. Bears can range for 8'+ to 9.5' with 10' possible. You should see multiple bears so size may be directly proportional a hunter's patience. After 5 days of crappy weather hunter's often will shoot the first decent bear they see so a little restraint may pay off.

Kelly's area is a sole guide area so there is no danger of being covered up with other guides and hunters.

Arrival King Salmon and Kelly will fly you to camp from there.

I need an update. I heard @ SCI Reno that Rough and Ready sold out. Whats the status?

Kelly sold his Wrangell Mountain operation but has retained his Peninsula area.

I understand Kelly sold his peninsula area as well. As they guy who purchased it plans on visiting us this spring as our areas are adjacent.

That was the plan but that guy's permit application was denied by the feds. At this point Kelly and Linda plan on keeping the area as long as they can.

Let's clarify this situation. Kelley Vrem/Rough and Ready Guide Service has not sold any of his business regardless of what anyone thinks they know including myself. I spoke out of turn concerning the sale of the Wrangell area.

I had texted with Kelly 6 weeks ago and he told me he was trying to retire and referred me to his brother Tracy. I had been in touch with Taj Shoemaker before that and he told be they were sold out until 2023 which is a great testiment to their reputation.

The information I received both from my son Taj, as well as the guide who claims he has purchased Tracy's area and as of a week ago plans on being camping and scouting the area next month.
