Ladies and Gentleman,

Good news! We just heard this morning that we are amongst a select few outfitters who have been asked to tender for a VERY exclusive hunting Safari.

There are not a lot of hunters in modern times that will get the opportunity to hunt all five of the BIG5 in one hunt!

Now, I am going to get a lot of replies maybe from a lot of my fellow hunters here on AR that will reflect negative on this offer, but I do not care. Any hunter that has been to South Africa and hunted here will know that this is an OPPERTUNITY of a life time.

The details of the hunt on offer is as follow:
1x Ellephant bull (UNRESTRICTED)
1x W/Rhino Bull
1x Lion male
1x Leopard male
2x Buffalo Bulls

The hunt will be conducted in the Manyeleti Game reserve that forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

All the game are free ranging, and there are NO fences between the parks. Most folks that know their way about hunting in Africa will know that this is as good as it gets.

Now the other good news is the price.... Big Grin

We foresee that this hunt will sell in the region of $195,000.00 all in. Granted this is not cheap, but who can say in the year 2009 that they have done this.

This will include all the cost of the hunt, permits, full board and lodging and a Helicopter flight from Jo-burg to the hunting area and back.

Hunting will be hard and on foot, and as I said, an experience of a life time.

So, if you are interested and SERIOUS about this offer, please contact me.

Agents welcome. Please note that the tender closes on 31 August 2009, and the hunt must be concluded by 30 November 2009. I know this is very short notice, but maybe, just maybe there is someone that want to come and share this hunt with me.

Big Five Productions will also document the whole experience on video for the lucky hunter to take this, at no extra cost.

I look forward to hear from you.

How long a hunt is this? Is it for one Hunter only, or can two or more hunters split it up between them? Confused

Larry,

I wish you could do this my friend, as I will hunt this with you ANY day.

My idea is for one hunter to hunt all of it in one go, but the rules say it can be split. We are looking at between 21 and 30 days to get this done. I would also suggest taking this hunt up in October as we will be well into the rainy season in November, and then the cats will be difficult.

I am also asking the powers be if it is possible to do this as a classic African Safari with porters and tents and the whole nine yards.....If it will happen we do not know.

First have to get the yeah or nay on the tender!

I just know this, the guy who will pick this up will be one lucky you know what!

How did it come that now is allowed to hunt in the game reserve?
I found no info on the internet regarding this change in the situation of Manyeleti or Kruger.
If this is going to work like that from now on, it will be a great opportunity to show again how hunt can be done while preserving and promoting wildlife. I would like to see what the antihunting people will do once they get to know about this situation.

Best regards.

Sigh...

You know, I honestly never had any desire at all to be wealthy until I got interested in hunting Africa. Man, even if I sold my house I couldn't swing that. Maybe my teenaged son...

No offense but that seems insanely expensive to me. It can be done for a whole lot less.

I am going for 4 of the 5 in the SAVE on a 21 day hunt for less than $100,000. That would leave well over $95,000 for a white rhino.

Collecting the Big five over a period of 5 years.

Given below is what I know these hunts work out on average for a hunter. You can of course get cheaper hunts, but I’m using this just to show……….

Hunt 1
Buffalo – Zimbabwe
Airfare – To J0-burg return $2k, charter $2k (or commercial and road transfer)
Cost of hunt - $10k
Taxes, spending money, tips - $2k
Plains Game - $1k
Total : $17k

Hunt 2
W/Rhino – South Africa
Airfare- Jo-burg return - $2k
Total cost of hunt - $40k
PG - $2k
Spending money and tips - $2k
Total - $46k

Hunt 3
Lion – Botswana
Airfare – Jo-burg return - $2k, charter $2k
Total cost of hunt $65k (Johan Calitz was selling for $90k 2 years ago)
PG - $2k
Spending money and tips - $2k
Total - $70k

Hunt 4
Elephant (trophy bull) – Zimbabwe/Botswana or Caprivi in Nambia
Airfare – Jo-burg return - $2k, commercial plus road transfer or charter $2k
Total cost of Elephant hunt - $35k
PG- $2k
Spending money and tips - $2k
Total - $43k

Hunt 5
Leopard in Namibia
Airfare – Jo-burg return - $2k, commercial plus road transfer or charter $2k
Total cost of Leopard hunt - $15k
PG- $2k
Spending money and tips - $2k
Total - $19k

Total cost of collecting the Big Five over 5 years - $195,000.00
And you have another Buffalo bull in reserve.

Price of doing all off the above in 30 days in one of the most spectacular settings in Africa……not to mention the HUGE contribution to Nature Conservation in the area……. PRICELESS!!!!!

Is it cheap? NO

Is it a once in a lifetime, exclusive hunt? Yes

There is nothing on the internet, probably for the reason you yourself stated. Hunts in the Greater Kruger Parks are being done every year. This one is just another way for the government to generate some revenue to keep on doing a good job. Trust me, this is as real as it can be.

I'm just running out of time, that is why I posted this offer here.

It certainly is a terrific deal!

I'd hate to add up what my Big 5 adventures have cost me over the years. But, of course, the memories are priceless.

I'm sorry guys but I still think it is a insanely high price. Perhaps I am wrong.

I leave Sept 29 for a 21 day hunt in the SAVE for 4 of the big 5. I think it is highly likely that I will be successful. Without consulting my contracts, I think the total costs including trophy fees, daily rates, air charter, misc costs and estimated tips will be about $90,000. That would leave me with over $100,000 to use for a rhino.

Granted I might not be successful. I haven't killed a lion in last 3 trips to Tanzania and I have surely spent more than he is asking for this hunt.

The other thing would be the size of the elephants. I would think that it is at least possible that a massive elephant could be taken in the RSA. That is certainly worth something.

Is it an interesting hunt? Yes. Is it worth $196,000. Not to me. $150,000? Maybe.

Regardless, with my SAVE hunt, I don't have the time.

Good luck to anyone considering it.

One thing for sure, a true Big 5 hunt is almost a thing of the past. With CITES possibly placing Lion & Leopard on C-1, there's goes importation of either cat. Odd thing about that, if every hunter worldwide (and probably just in the US) voiced an opinion, this would go away. I sent 10, yes 10 opinions to CITES via SCI and it played a role in stopping the Elephant/ivory ban. Whoever takes this hunt should have Frederik filming extensive footage. The sale of DVDs could go a long way at recouping some costs. Even better would be to sell the rights to a cable network.
