Most of you that follow AR know that John and Laura DuPlooy/ Muchinga Adventures have an outstanding reputation in Zambia and put on some excelent safaris in the Chanjusi/Nyaminga areas on the Luangwa River and in Tondwa in the far north of the country.

I'm very happy to announce that Muchinga is just now finalizing an agreement to take up a Kafue concession. This will give them the ability to offer far more cat hunts and sable hunts with a real chance at a very big bull. Buffalo can be difficult here but are possible.

The sable/buff hunt are avaiable now.

10 days 1x1 $9,950
Concession fee $3,950
Lic fee, dip/pack etc $2,500

Extras:

Road transfer or charters
Hotels as necessary
Trophy shipping
Gratuities

Trophy fees:

Sable $5,000
Buffalo $2250
Lichenstein's hartebeest ?
Impala $250
Warthog $500
Wildebeest ?
Oribi $450
Kudu $1950
Zebra $900

Aug/Sept is the best time for the sable and the schedule is wide open.

Camp is a typical tented affair with en suite bath etc.

Contact me anytime with questions.

What area? Is it a sublease? Any other outfit running hunters in the same concession?
Sounds interesting.

Excellent! A good excuse to hunt with Muchinga again. Mark, could you post or send me details about the concession, lechwe and what their plans for the area are?

Thanks,
Dean

SG Olds,

I only found out about this yesterday so I do not have every detail. I do know they have the whole '10 quota for the area so the DuPlooys will be the stewards of the area and it will not get hammered. The camp will be nice, hunting roads maintained and anti-poaching in place. I'm also sure Laura will be taking excellent care of the cleints coming and going through Lusaka and ensure all trophies are handled in a timely fashion as they always are.

I'll add more info on this area as I receive it.

I just spoke to Laura Du Plooy and their Kafue area is the Sichifulo GMA on the south of the Kafue Park. Sable will run all over 40" with mid to high 40's possible. Leopards are very common and come easily to bait. Lions will be available but success is only about 60%. The lions that do come from there are brutes though.

Mark,

I just looked up the block in Safari Guide and in one place it has it referenced as a Prime block and in another as a secondary. Do you know which it is? Will prices on 21 day hunts be the same as for his hunts in the valley?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Brett,

All I know for sure is that Sichifulo is very good.

A 21 day 1x1 safari to allow both cats, buffalo, sable and all plains plus dip/pack, lic etc plus road transfer from Lusaka is $38,450 plus trophy fees. To answer your question this is about $21,000 less than their Luangwa valley lion hunt.

SICHIFULO GMA - TROPHY FEES 2010

US$
Baboon 90
Buffalo 2,250
Bushpig 500
Common Duiker 450
Eland 3,000
Grysbok 350
Hartebeest 1,500
Impala 250
Kudu 1,950
Leopard 3,950
Lion 6,500
Oribi 450
Roan 5,000
Sable 5,000
Warthog 500
Blue Wildebeest 1,500
Zebra 900
Kafue Lechwe 5,000
Black Lechwe 5,000
Tsessabe 3,250
Bird Licence 120

Please note:
All animals killed or wounded are to be paid for in full.
Black Lechwe, Kafue Lechwe, Sitatunga and Tsessabe hunted in Bangweulu and Kafue Flats are subject to availability.
All species are subject to quota availability.
Prices subject to change without notice.

Bwana Bunduki

Kafue lechwe can easily be added to this safari. Actually at this point the black lechwe and tsessbe are still available as the parliament has not ruled on closing Bangweulu to hunting. Sitatunga can be added but it would take an extra 10 day booking and change of area.

Jeff,

John is 100% on sitatunga. A late season booking in Sept/Oct is best with reasonable expectations for a 26"-27" bull. If you are selective a much bigger bull is possible.
