Looking for a good outfitter for a moose hunt for me and my son. Would prefer fly in due to remoteness, but will consider others. Thanks for the help.

Look up Portland Creek Outfitters, they have their own float plane too. I have not hunted with them, but friends have and they all (5) took moose.

We had a very solid hunt with DADG MacDonald this past fall. Link to report below. PM me a phone number if you'd like to discuss more.

Are you set on Newfoundland for the Moose. I know a Guide/outfitter in BC who also has moose hunts, but more oriented towards meat hunts, though does have an take Bulls also.

I have NFL Moose hunts for $4,000 includes your tag. Lots of flight options but we usually fly into Deer Lake, rent a vehicle and drive to the pick up area. Outfitter picks us up there and drives us into the wilderness camp. I took a giant black bear and everyone had a shot opportunity on Moose. Two of us scored and 3 others unfortunately wounded and lost bulls. Season is Sept-Nov but most hunt late Sept or early Oct for the rut. LDK

That would be good info. I've been told by everyone who's ever hunted moose in NF to only go the "fly in" route to get away from all the locals.

bcap; email me and I'll send a lot of pics. Much easier for me to email that go through posting one pic at a time here. Thanks

JGRaider; when I was there we only saw one truck during our entire hunt including arrival and departure days but we never saw the hunter if that is what they were doing. Could have been after black bear or trout. Never heard another shot outside of our own. The camp is miles of gravel through very thick bush; I'd never take my vehicle through. I have Helo hunts for $8,500 but why? We all either killed or lost bulls (2 bow hunters, one rifle hunter using a .300 mag. Knocked the bull down but he disappeared during the night and they couldn't cross the steep ravine/stream until morning. Other clients have been successful each year. I consider it a good deal for the money and I did get a bull and huge black bear. Smiler

Guys, I have two spots left for Fall 2020. October 4-9. It's a good week. Same week I hunted.

I took this young bull on the last morning and he yielded 300 lbs of boned out delectable cuts.

I had seen several big bulls but couldn't close the distance. I also took this bruin:

I will return, I really enjoyed this hunt. LDK

Guys,

What L.David is telling you is for real. I work with quite a big outfitter in Newfoundland hunting multiple camps across the island and offering drive in, fly in and trophy hunts. His drive in hunt is $4,200 and he does kill some big bulls on the drive in. Reality is that 2/3 of the moose taken on Newfoundland will be 2-3 year olds but if you are selective a big bull is possible. Most hunters coming to Newfoundland will shoot the first bull they see and some will gladly shoot a cow therefore the stats.

Taxes are included with this hunt. Your only responsible for airfare and ground transportation to the meeting area (we can pick you up at the airport for $200 each way (can split with others), meat processing/taxidermy, shipping to your pick up area if not driving to NFL. For those asking about Moose/Caribou hunts, you would have to hunt in November to hunt both.

Guys,

I guess it all kind of evens out in the end. My guy picks up from the airport or hotel and boxes meat for transportation at no additional cost.

One thing I've learned in 3 years of having clients up there is that the rut period is critical if you want a descent bull. Once the rut ends it's just like you stepped off the bus.
