Scott Mileur/Mileur Guide Service has been hunting the same area on kodiak's Olga Bay near Red lake for 36 years.

Scott kills some huge bears but he has some very good deer hunting also for Sitka blacktail.

There are lots of deer and as Olga Bay is on the south end of the island that gets very little snow the winter kill is not severe. I hunted the North end of the Island one year after a severe winter and still saw 34 mature bucks one day.

You should see bucks everyday and have multiple shooting opportunities. The hunt allows 2 bucks per person and you should expect to take both unless you are weathered out for most of your hunt which is not likely. The hunt is 7 full hunting days to allow time for inclement weather.

The hunt is all spot and stalk with a good bit of walking so a fair physical condition will increase your enjoyment of the hunt and your success.

Camp is a tented affair with cots. No sleeping on the ground. Food will be all fresh with no canned or freeze dried fair.

The terrain is fairly open as the attached pix show and shots could come from 50-300 yards so a fairly flat shooting deer rifle is recommended.

This is big bear country so you may see some of Kodiak's legendary giants on this hunt.
