Any recommendations on where to stay in Maputo?

Had to do the same thing last year and got little advise from anyone -- after some research stayed at the Pestana Rovuma in downtoun Maputo -- every thing was good -- not 5-Star but very nice and comfortable. No issues or hassles.

Beware of some Maputo hotels that advertise a very wide price range, as there is one price for the newly built hotel structure and a much lower rate for the old hotel building nearby.

The Hotel Cardoso on the hill overlooking the harbour and town and close to the Natural History Museum was nice. Would love to have stayed there in Lieu of the Dump we got stuck in.

I looked at the sites for Souther Sun and Polana. They look great. I would like to stay beach side. What about getting from the airport to one of these hotels?

Southern Sun is direct on the beach Polana is overlooking the Bay both offer collection and drop of from Airport just ask on Booking the Rooms decent restaurant 100 meter from Sun towards costa de sol other km is a casino if you want to be on the water Sun is the way to go.
