My wife and I will spend a day in Dubai on the way to Zambia mid-August. We're setup a tour of the city, but need to eat.

Where should we have dinner?

There is every conceivable type of restaurant in Dubai, depends on what you fancy.

All major hotels have several restaurants you can choose from.

Saeed,

Thank you. I wasn't sure if there were some more iconic places to dine.

We would prefer a place that represents the food of the UAE or region.

I have had some of the best meals of my life in Dubai and a couple that were not quite so remarkable.

It has been at least 10 years since I have been to Dubai. What was my favorite place to eat was across Al Khaleej Road from the Gold Souk on the ocean side in a big hotel. I think the hotel was a Hyatt, but it has been a long time. If you look at a map, it looks like it has been demolished for years.

There are quite a few websites that feature Dubai food. Give it a google: https://www.timeoutdubai.com/restaurants/reviews

If your transit day happens to be a Friday, the “timeoutDubai” website lists a number of FANTASTIC all you can eat buffets. These buffets are kind of a ritual and tradition in Dubai.

Bummer. We'll be there on a Tuesday. Not the most exciting day of the week.

Thinking street food for lunch and one of the better restaurants for dinner. As Saeed notes, there is everything.

Stayed at the Air Emirates Hotel they had an amazing buffet spent the day on a guided tour and a helicopter tour, good way to break up your flight home from African safari. Emirates stored my gun until i left on the next Day

If you have time a flightsee on "Seawings" is a great way to get a different perspective on the city from the air.

Cheers

Jim,

I saw that when I did a search here for more info on Dubai. That looks really fun and I'm seeing what their schedule is.

If they had an evening flight, that could be pretty amazing.

Thanks for the suggestion.

No worries Mate!!

Saeed hooked us up on the flight and it was the highlight of our trip other than meeting with him at his compound. '

Cheers

Seawings fly scenic flights, so I am afraid they do not fly at night.
