StormsGSPTurkish Air- flying with firearms
I am booked to fly on Turkish in December, my first time flying with them with a firearm. I called and they say said they have made a note in their system that I am flying with a firearm, and that nothing else is required from me. From experience on other airlines, this seems too easy to be true.
Any experience?

30.06kingI have only flown Turkish with a firearm domestically within Turkey. Absolutely no problem except for a small issue in Antalya where I was asked to take my bolt from a separate bag and put it into my rifle case...!! The reason I separated them was I was connecting to an Emirates flight in Istanbul and was following their guideline. Luckily at Emirates check in I was not asked to separate the bolt again.
If you are flying Turkish and your destination is Turkey I recommend you ask and allow your outfitter to escort you through firearms clearance on arrival. I've taken a rifle to Turkey only once and the permitting / clearance procedure is convoluted and time consuming. It all worked out but without local assistance would have been a nightmare.
Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

September 2019 Dusseldorf / Istanbul / Bishkek and return. Easiest and no charge firearm handling ever! Bishkek we got charged but that was an airport rip off and not Turkish.
Great airline and firearm easy!.

dogcatThat was my experience as well. You will get checked a couple of times at the airport but it is all very routine. Very good airlines!!
