New Caledonia with guns

Has anyone traveled to New Caledonia with a a hunting rifle? Getting mixed reports on the feasibility of doing it.

I think I saw one of Jim Shockey's shows several years back on a hunt he did there. He used his own gun, a muzzleloader if I remember right so I assume from that it's possible.

When I went there 7-8 years ago, it was a major hassle. I used the outfitter’s rifle. Learn some French if you go. Other than the PH/Outfitter, almost no one spoke any English!

the process for french is the same all across except New Caledonia because of all the past events.

sorry i can t help more but follow it and there should be no problem if you can find the prooper route by plane ...

He's never had anyone bring one...he says it's possible but difficult. Just hoping to talk to someone that has actually done it.

Wish I could help...only hunting I know of there was by my father in 1944....he and his buddies went deer hunting with BAR's, M-1 Garands and Carbines...I think someone had a Thompson also...they shot one little deer there wasn't enough left for the dogs to eat.....
