Not really there are a good number of excellence 700 clone choices, these choices keep the industry alive.
In some cases it allows those who wouldn't normally be thinking beyond the production rack thinking on a custom rifle and once custom the likely hood of returning to the production rack for a rifle are likely low.

Once in the custom rifle world people realize there's actually quite a bit to learn, once here some even migrate from an entry level Rem. Custom to a higher end hand build wood stocked blued rifle, and now we're talkin rifles with some real character, as each one is truly individual.

I think the Rems and clones serve as a door.
