BRNO Hornet ZKW 465 .22 Project
Building two brno hornets, though i'd share some photos. Note on the close ups of works that show how to remove your rasp marks. (I'm using a No.13 rasp at this point.) After scraping like I have you can just go on 220 grit sanding. All the detail work isn't done yet, just the scraping procedure.

Beautiful work. But I am wondering if a person could make that look even nicer by cutting down the magazine so it sat flush with the wood and changing that trigger guard to a Blackburn shape?

Changing the bottom metal would not be practical because the double trigger and size of the guard. Is this a bit more appealing to you?, This rifle shown is using the same bottom metal only engraved.

Ray this is more refining and the first sanding of 180 grit.

I found their treatments were a bit severe.

I think messing with that bottom metal would spoil its uneckness (Spelling went so.) but you get my point..Awesome rifle..

Roger,
Beautiful job. Must be nice to have a stock blank or two lying around..... I really like the way you inletted the action and left the extra wood. Please post more pictures as you make progress.

Thanks.

Roger, thanks for sharing the pictures.

I have seen those little rifles at gun shows before and thought they were neat...but I never thought they were all that stylish. You changed my mind!

Nice work.

Roger, Did you ever get your hands on the #3 that I "sold" traded to you?

I haven't got the model 1 yet, it's still at Duane's place.

Wow... that will be one beautiful custom when finished and love the caliber!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Very Nice work Roger. Great looking cheek piece and beautiful wood.

Thanks for taking the time to post updated pictures.

It's going to be a unique and handy lil' rifle when finished!

I've seen a few of Roger's beautiful rifles. He can do it from digging out the root ball to a finished rifle.

Echo all the above compliments - very impressive work, as always! I've always wanted one of these beautiful little rifles, especially in this chambering, but they're well out of my reach, I'm afraid. Another dream gun unrealized....

As requested by some, here are the measurements of the action and the rear section of the barrel in front of the receiver ring in imperial and metric.

Curious what makes you think they are not filled. Stock is already checkered. Thinking out loud.

It just looks like it has no depth and has more finish to go. Only Roger knows for sure.

Love it, my Sako L-46 is all but a clone to the Brno Horned and stock design is the same. I built it 40 years ago as my African safari rifle in 6x45, even bloodied it in Africa on PG. and a Kudu was the largest..Now its regulated to whitetail deer, Javalina, and coyotes, and an ocassional Mule deer behind my Idaho home...My cowboy ,rancher, cattle inspector grandson shot his first deer with it near 30 years ago, and all his deer since, sees no reason for another gun, so its in my will to him..
