I was offered an Ishapore 2 A 1, in .308, of Course. But it seems like a Mk V Jungle Carbine. On Wiki it looks the Ishapores were rather full lenght rifles.

Can anyone tell me more about this?

TIA, Hermann

Did a LOT of searching the net.

It could be a Gibbs No 7 "Jungle Carbine".

NO collector interest, and quite a short sight radius for a "beater gun".

Your opinion please, gents?

Hi. The 2AI was an SMLE in 7.62mm NATO. Except for square ears to the front sight protector and, of course, a magazine profiled to accept 7.62mm cartridges.

As the you said there wasn't any such thing as an Indian made and issued Jungle Carbine made from the 2AI.

If yu like it, the price is right and it's accurate then why not.

Now it is true that Australia experimented with converting their .303 SMLE rifles into Jungle Carbines. But not many, well documented and accounted for and NOT sold by the Gibbs Rifle Company!

If it isn't a full length #1 pattern rifle then it is a cut down version sold by Navy Arms in the 80s and 90s. Done by them I mean.

I skipped the shortened one, and bought a real one.

Ishapore 2A1, so marked, 1966, but it has the 2.000 m sight.

Cant wait to shoot her!

Where might I get a spare mag ( to be fitted, if necessary ), and where to find a Parker Hale 5A??

Century arms used to have the 308 mags; they don't need to be fitted. IDK if they are still made.
