I just became the owner of an original Model 180 .44 Automag. Found Brass, dies and now am looking for load data. Anyone with some favorite loads?

I have no loads but I'm jealous.

I first held one in 1974 in a gunshop in Pensacola Fl while I was stationed there. Then, it was $396.00 and then, that was more than a months pay. I found this one on gunbroker and was the only bidder. Bought it cheap.

I got loading data from Michael458. He worked up a bunch of loads for the new people that bought the rights to the Automag. Pressure tested all of them with different powders and bullet weights and sent me all of the data. He also sent me the dies he used and Midway has brass by Starline.

DCS Wildey still manufactures them and are still in business.

Awesome. A guy at our local pistol range let me shoot his way back in the late 1970s. I was sure impressed.

I have Bruce Stark's book about the Pasadena days Automags and he has some data in there.

I think the Hornady book has 44 automag data in there too.

Please post a picture. I've only ever seen one "in the flesh" and that was in N.Z.

Like many other gun rarities, I don't want to own it but I sure would like to shoot it at least once.

Some of the older say 1970 manuals have data in them for the auto mag.

Dont you make brass from .308 Win cases?

Yes Muzza, it's .308 brass that's trimmed but, there are a couple of companies that make new.
