Did an experimental trip down to Bolivia with a new outfitter, The trip was cheap, Thank god!!!. We fished the San Martin and Blanco rivers. We were after the "leatherfish's" (catfish) of the Amazon and its many thousands of tributaries.

We were successful on only red tails. Managed to catch about 8 or so. They ranged from 25 up to probably about 60 pounds. (pictured). I did hook a Jau that was probably 140-160. It was nearly six feet long. Broke off right on the rock I was sitting on. Never saw a Piraiba the real heavyweights down there. They get up to 400 pounds.

We fished around a village called Bella Vista, if you want to google it.

Great exotic, traditional and real roughin it trip.
