Going with family and friends to Kauai (North Shore) in June. Looking to do some fishing. Any suggestions?

Are you wanting to fish offshore or just fish from shore? I take a four piece ugly stick and a few split shot and hooks in my carry on. I buy whole squid for bait and cut them into strips. Almost all rocky areas will produce fish on an incoming tide. I catch a lot of goatfish, hawk fish, and the occasional parrot fish and wrasse. Papio can be caught along the beaches as well. I fish mostly on Maui and Lanai.

I was thinking offshore and looking for charter recommendations.

But now that you mention it, I might try and so some fishing from shore as well. I'll be staying on a house right on the beach on the north shore (Haena).

Does it matter the time of year? I may be on Kauai early next year. (I would love to fish for peacock again.)
