Hello Rusty,

I am just testing/using two. One is cheap ~120 USD here

camera with PTZ and smartphone ap. It works, you can rotate it remotely, but:

There is no power backup
Using some "unknown" Chinese cloud for connecting
Can upload only pictures to FTP, no video

So if you want to secure FTP, you have to make your own VPN, give camera backup-ed power source etc.

For that money, it works.

Another one is Piper NV:

It is very different class. Works great, backup-ed by 3 AA batteries, there is no PTZ, but ~3megapixel fisheye video is just enough. Great application for android or apple smartphones, customer support, works great. You can connect remote switches to it, door/window open detectors, it monitors motion, sound, temperature, you can attach water sensor etc.

Just watch this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNaQyKt2mBw

Don't forget to backup your internet connection, power source etc. I use 1500VA Tripp-Lite UPS for example, powering all of my network routers, switches etc.
