I want to get the internet on my laptop when I am in a rural area. There is no wireless signal there.

Do I want a device like this to connect?

Thank you for your help.

Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.

When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!

Do that with your optics.

There would have to be Verizon network coverage PLUS a data plan with Verizon in order to use that device.

George,

Thanks for the note.

I went to a store today and the clerk gave me an earful on how to do it.

Seems that it's expensive and complicated. Somehow I hoped that it was all ready!

You're welcome, but I have to ask how rural n area are you visiting?

If it has no mobile network, you wouldn't be able to use a smartphone or 'air card'.

You can sign up for satellite internet service but it is expensive.

Are you wanting it in only one particular place, such as a weekend cabin or something, or are you roaming through several remote areas?

There are several websites that offer "coverage maps", you can try searching for a term such as "wireless internet coverage map" and the town or county name, or the zip code if you have one for the area.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

If you have Cell service there, you can buy a top of the line iPad that has wifi and cell interface to the Net. It works great "on the road" and we use it rather than the "in car" navigation system.

I have the verizon plan and like it much better than the satellite service I had before-. The cell option or sat-up-link was my only option.I got the hot-spot instead of the card-can run up to 5 devices at once, albeit slowly-.

Rural doesn't go with electronics i am afraid.
