Rub LineQuestions about memory stick pro duo.
I'm using a Sony HDR-CX500V, HD video camera, for memory cards is it worth it to get the high speed cards or are the standard cards good enough? The kid at Best Buy told me the high speed cards are for the dslr cameras and I wont notice a difference in performance in a video camera. He said that it gives the still cameras faster processing speed for taking multiple rapid pictures. Do the high speed cards increase downloading performance?

SaeedFor full HD I think you need a Class 6 card.
If your camera takes both Memory stick or an SD card, my suggestion you get SD cards.

Yes, the class number is a really a minimum megabite per second rating.
Not all cards rated the same do the same speed, better cards are faster, do a search on the cards available to you.
"The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD Cards, defined by the SD Association. It is equal to 1 MB/s (8 Mbit/s), and it measures the minimum sustained write speeds for a fragmented state
The following are the ratings of some currently available cards:
* Class 2: 2 MB/s
* Class 4: 4 MB/s
* Class 6: 6 MB/s
* Class 10: 10 MB/s
Even though the class ratings are defined by a governing body, like × speed ratings, class speed ratings are quoted by the manufacturers but unverified by any independent evaluation process. In applications that require sustained write throughput, such as video recording, the device may not perform satisfactorily if the SD card's class rating falls below a particular speed. For example, a camcorder that is designed to record to class 6 media may suffer dropouts or corrupted video on slower media."
