264 WinMag with Hodgdon's LRT
I picked up some LRT the other day, thinking that there would be some data by the time I got it in stock. My error!
Has anyone here used any in a .264?
My rifle is a Savage with Shilen stainless 26" with a 7" twist for use with long, high BC bullets.
I have ELD-X, SMK and Berger bullets. I've used H870, but that's gotten pretty low, and I won't have it much longer.
I would like to know if anyone has ever used any, and how much they had used. I always shoot over a chrono (Oehler M33) so can test it, but need a place to start.
Thank you for any help.Have fun,
Gene

Not 264 data but this should give an idea on starting loads. LRT is a western powder not hodgdon.

I'd give western a call they may not have tested it in the 264 yet.
but they should be able to point you in the right direction.
otherwise you kinda stuck modifying 6.5X284 type data.

The burn rate on it is similar to 869, but it's a lot slower then Retumbo.

Tjay, you are quite right, I've got it wrong, thank you.
I also have TCM. Has anyone tried THAT?
Have fun,

I found some LRT data for the 264 WinMag on Nosler's site.

Tjay- yes, I have it, but LRT is what I want to try in the .264.
I looked at the Nosler data, and that looks like what I need to try.
Thank you.
If I can get it on paper and thru the screens in the next few days, I'll report on it.
Have fun,
Gene

The Nosler data on the LRT looked real good with 129-142gr bullets. I have been using Hodgdon US869 with 127gr Barnes LRX's and getting just over 3300 fps out of a 26" barrel, but the LRT looks very similar to the US869 load data and may be a good alternative to try.
