Any good loads for the Browning 1885 in 260? Has anyone tried the 160 Hornady? Thanks.

I have never use the 160gr bullet in the 260 but a freind has and is using 43gr of AR2209 (H4350) in Remington cases behind the sierra 160smp for 2518fps out of his Sako.

He is new to the 260 but has gone with the 130 gr barnes tsx and hornandy 129 gr for a bit more speed as the 160 gr is a little rainbow like in its trajectory.

IIRC, the 1885 was a 9, or even 10 twist according to Browning Literature, but I do recall owners using up to 129 gr effectively. I honestly do not believe you will get decent accuracy with 140 spitzers, or even 160 roundnose, but you never know.

The standout load in mine so far for accuracy has been Nolser's 100gr. b-tip w/ 40.0gr. of IMR4064.

Bolt actions will take a load of 43.5 grains of IMR 4064 with ANY 100 grain bullet.. for an MV of 3350 fps.. from a 22 inch barrel.... 3450 fps, out of my 26 in barrel Rem VLS...
