Wow! Id kill for that one....my all time favorite caliber and the workmanship is awesome, Gowdy is good, Ive owned a couple of his guns, one was a 66 Mauser, and its the only 66 I ever liked..It was a 375 H&H. Like the very short action but the factory stock left me cold, Gowdys custom stock made it very nice..I bought it second hand..

hey guys was just reading thru old threads and found this one. 4 years ago i picked up a savage model 1920 in 250-3000 so it has a 1:14 twist as it was made around 1925. its in great shape and has a perfect bore. love this cartridge so much actually built a PRS rifle on a savage 10
anyway it is very accurate with sierra 90gr BTHP as its made for the 1:14 twist. with all these new powders this cartridge comes alive. the 90gr sierra with varget avg's 3055 FPS and shoots into 1/2" at 100 yds with no pressure signs!!! took this 4 point the last day i could hunt in wva at 137 yards.

Keep in mind its not bullet weight that is the problem with the 1x14 twist, its the length of the bullet that won't stablilize, so if you want to shoot elk with a 250-3000 use the 117 gr. Hornady RN, Ive found the are super accurate in most if not all 1x14 twist, they do in my Savage 99s and in my beautiful old FN deluxe, also a 1x14, but it shoots most all bullets so far..You have to shoot them to know, don't just take someones word being passed down.
