Most powerful 35 cal wildcat ?

Well, I'm still loading 35 Whelen for my preacher but at the same time buying him some loading equipment so he can do it on his own.I've given him a press, a scale. a powder measure + several dies set that I was dbld. up on.NOT 35 Whelen. I am not giving away my only set of 35 Whelen dies. Is anyone willing to pass along a set of dies? Kinda dumb, but it never hurts to ask.

Yep, 350 G&H is correct...Mine was a mod -70 pre 64 or pre war super grade..At that time the problem was bullets were too soft at its velocity, but it killed never the less, they went off like a bomb inside..Probably were 35 Rem bullets...I dumped it.With some of Todays bullets it would be a damn fine caliber..

What bullet weight is the bullet in the 350 G and H Magnum? I think the box says 270 grain which is perfect.

My problem with the 35 has always been too little weight bullets. 250, 270/275, 300/310 should have been the standard.

Not 180, 200, 225. For deer it does not mater. In my mind the 358 should be a big bear and moose cartridge. The American equivalent to the 375HH. Like the 9.3x64, 9.3x66, or 9.3x62 are in Europe.

IMHO a 35-300 HH would be a cooler cart with a looooong neck for cast boolits but I am a fan of G&H. I dub thee 358 Giraffe!

One thing that has surprised me is with the resurgence of the 416 Rigby and in cheap rifles like the CZ that the 350 Rigby has not had a run. Might sell a few in the CZs.

I reckon Winchester could sell quite a few 300 H&Hs if they were made as companion rifles to their 375 H&Hs an that includes price. Be lots of profit in each rifle when you think the 375 costs more than 270 etc Super Ggrade but comes with the shit wood.

I'd love to have a 350 Rigby to accompany my 416 Rigby. But I'd need factory ammo as well...

My last two safaris with Andrew in Zambia has been close to this (2)-rifle battery: a 35 Whelen and a 404 Jeffery. I really like this combo, and ballistically speaking, it's almost identical.

Really like to pry the coffins off necro-threads.

The most practical 35 Whelen is the original, BUT
the Brown-Whelen or 35 Whelen Ackley Imp will push
a 250 gr bullet into 2600 FPS territory.
With a Woodleigh or Nosler bullet, it will handle
anything that walks in North America and most African game. Easy to shoot and reload. I have a 35 Whelen on a custom pre-64 Model 70 that looks like a Super Grade.
