7mm/404 vs 7mm RUM
Has anybody done a comparison between these two calibers ?. I'm considering rebarreling my Ruger No 1 to 7mm/404 and wondering what advantages I get with going for a wildcat ?

thanks in advance

Murray,

If your rifle was a repeater then someone would say that the 7mm/404 would be better because of not having a rebated rim and so if all else was equall then feeding of the 7mm/404 would be more reliable than the 7mm RUM. I don't think that will be the case as the amount of rim rebating on the 7mm RUM is not very much.

Someone might also argue that the 7mm/404 will use Norma brass. However necking down from .423 to 284 then fireforming etc.....

By the way here is some loading data from this site for the 7mm Lazzeroni Firehawk which is a 7mm/404

In my opinion the main reason to get a 7mm/404 over the 7mm RUM would be just because it is different.
