Got a call from a friend’s friend.

“Hello, Saeed??”

“Yes.”

“I am a friend of Hussain, he gave your number saying you know about guns. And I have a problem with my FX air rifle”

“What is the problem?”

“Well, I cannot find the focus on my scope!!”

“What make scope is it?”

“I don’t know. It came on the gun. It is a very big and very good scope I was told. It goes to 45 times in magnification!”

I was speechless!

45x scope on an air rifle??

“Is there a ring on the front of the scope that you can turn?”

“No there isn’t “

“Is there a turret on the left side that you can turn?”

“No there isn’t.”

“Ok, what is the minimum magnification on your scope?”

“It says 2”

“Can you see the target when you set it at 2?”

“Oh yes. I can see even when I turn it up a bit. But cannot see much when I put it on 45x. I thought that is how I can shoot really well with it.”

“Ok, I know exactly how you can use that scope. Never turn it higher than 6. Shot it at this setting, and you won’t have any more problems”

“Wow! That is great. Thank you for advice. Hussain was right. You know everything about guns! Thank you very much again!”

I had a German friend years ago, who had an incredibly stupid, and awkward girl friend.

Her and me never got on well, culminating in the fact that she refused to come to my house whenever he came.

I was asking people what they wanted to drink.

She asked for coffee.

I asked black or white.

She said "nosing wis it"

I put a spoonful of instant coffee in a mug and gave it to her!

She hit the roof?!

I said to her that is what coffee "nosing wis it" looks like!

On another occasion I was cooking steaks on a BBQ.

She said she wanted her steak "half done"

I put half the steak on the fire, and the other half off.

It ended up one half well done, and the other hale raw!

She never came back to my house again!

Back about 1980 I dated this girl that was gorgeous with a beautiful body and face but her mind got left behind. We went to the movies one afternoon and when we came out of the Theater it had became overcast and was about to rain, she stopped, looked up at the clouds and very seriously asked me 'Is the sun still shining when it's cloudy like this'? I looked at her and said 'just get in the truck'.

Relevant question.

The sun is still shining, above the clouds!

I have seen this many times when I was flying.

We would take off in an over cast, fly through the clouds, and glorious sunshine above!

We coat our bullets with Molly spray.

For this I have taken large plastic chopping boards, and drilled suitable size hole in them so that bullets can bu stood there for spraying.

I use both side of each board for different calibers, to save on boards.

We got a new helper, and I showed him how to place the bullets and spray them.

He did just fine.

Then I changed caliber and told him where to find the boards, and check to find the right one for this caliber.

He went to look, then came back and said "sir, I found a board with holes on both sides. I can make double the bullets at the same time"

I looked at him, and burst out laughing.

How the hell did he even imagine sticking bullets on both sides of the chopping board??

Here is one even better!

I found a place that had a small swimming pool in an abandoned building full of lead shot??!!

How it all got there no one seemed to know.

Anyway, the man was very happy when I offered to buy it all from him.

I got empty 48 gallon drums, and filled them with lead shot.

Got them home, and used the shot for both shotgun leadings and melted to cast for pistol bullets.

We kept one of the drums in our workshop fo easy access.

A friend brought boxes of fired 9mm brass, these were also stored in the workshop.

I called one of our helpers, and gave him zip lock bags.

I explained to him that I wanted him to put 100 empty brass cases in each bag.

There were a few boxes, so I knew it would take a while to do it.

Off he went.

Quite a bit later, I called to see how he was getting on.

Me : How much longer do you need before all are done?

Him : It will take a very long time sir. So many to put in the bags.

I knew something must be wrong, so instead of trying to get an explanation over the phone, I decide to walk out to see.

My helper was busy counting 100 tiny lead pellets, from the drum, and bagging them!

No wonder he thought it would take a very long time!

I told you.

I have a magnetic attraction to them.

Many years ago I had a Corbin hydrolic press, that I made bullets in.

It had a moving frame, which moves up and down carrying the die.

I was making 44 caliber bullets with gas checks.

The frame rests on two steel parts, they are about 2-3 inches long, about a quarter inch thick and an inch wide.

There is a warning on the machine that this area should be kept spotlessly clean, and no parts to be left there.

One morning I was busy making bullets, and one of our help arrived and stood there looking what I was doing.

I took about half an hour showing him what to do - making sure he understood that that specific area was to be kept clean.

The operation was very simple.

You press a button, the frame goes up.

You put a slug of lead on top of a gas check, and press another button, the press comes down, and a finished bullet is made.

After about a half hour of me showing him what to do, I left him to make bullets, and went to the shooting range.

That was the time before mobile phones.

About half an hour later, his wife comes running down to the shooting range screaming that he is badly hurt.

I ran up.

I saw him sitting on a chair, holding his mouth, with blood all over the place!

His front teeth were gone!

I had to rush him to hospital.

He has better looking teeth now, though!

What he did was take a handful of gas checks and put them exactly where I told him to never put anything.

one of these must have gotten underneath that piece of steel I mentioned above, and it snapped in two.

One piece giving him a steely kiss!
