Just like that girl said in the back seat of my Chevy so many years ago, "well somone has to be first, it might as well be you".

Was cleaning my AR the other night and was waiting for the Gunslick foam to do its job so I figured I would sit down and relax with a cold one and read the instructions. Yes, I had read them before but did it in a hurry and missed something on the bottom. It says not to use in gas operated firearms. I have used foam in my AR for at least the last 4 cleanings, so far nothing has happened that I can see.

I am assuming the foam may get up/into the gas pipe and screw up something.

Anyone else out there used foam in your gas gun? What do you guys think?

Jim

Jim, Your rifle will explode - don't use it. It must be discarded. Ship it to me and I will take care of it. Big Grin

Some of them supposedly attack aluminum and others can clog the port with build-up and cause jams with gunk that will eventually blow back into the action. A little thorough spray of air from the gas tube back will take care of it. I've been using Wipeout without a problem for about a year now.

Thanks Tiggertate,

That is exactly what I did when I found it wasn't recommended. I shot some air back through the gas tube. Your response is what I was looking for. If anything was going to show up it should have by this time in your gun.

I have been using Wipeout in my AR15s ever since I learned about it several years ago.

I’m not certain exactly how long I have been shooting the stuff up the barrels of my black rifles, but I started out with 6 cans and am down to 1 1/2 cans, so it’s definitely been awhile.

Never had a problem. Everything looks and works fine.

I love Wipeout and will most certainly continue to use it.

Thanks Viator,

I have used one can of Wipeout and can't see the difference in that and the Gunslick stuff. It was easier for my gunsmith to get the Gunslick stuff so that is what I am using and have had excellent results with it also.

No Dammit, but I am getting real good at calling in wolves. Have seen one coyote on the way to work this winter and 6 wolves. The coyote had his tail tucked way up and he was looking behind him as much as he was looking forward.

Called a ridge about 3 weeks ago. Called in one wolf, so I walked out to the pickup. Drove down the woods road about 300 yards and there was another one on the road headed my way.

The neighbor ran off two wolves that came in for his dog.

If Clem has any coyotes around his cabin this next winter, we have to plan a few days to head up there and call.

Have a nice weekend.

I’ve never tried the Gunslick product. When Wipeout came out, it was among the first of the foam bore cleaners. I purchased enough Wipeout that I am still using it.

I image that many other fine products have come along since the early days of foam cleaners and will continue to emerge. They will probably even get better!

When my Wipeout runs out I may well try some of the others.
