So here I was running a few rounds through the tube, Tubbs Final Finish to be exact, and after 5 rounds I would stop and clean. Now the barrel was not "HOT" but it were warm. As I would poke a patch the brush some solvent though I would notice a slight "steam" exiting the muzzle. This made me wonder if it is better to scrub when the barrel is warm or if when cold? Not sure if the temp would effect the solution??? Some Lik'em Hot I do believe that the chemical action of the various solvents is enhanced by a warmer barrel. Too hot and vapor will not help. Have shot with a number of serious competion shooters that make sure to put solvent in to work while the barrel is still hot from the last relay. Many like to let Kroil soak on the way home and then scrub. | |||

I'll swamp out the barrel after firing the last 10 rounds through the AR10. Let it soak for 10 minutes and swamp out the barrel again. I let the rifle set check targets and then clean the rifle, leaving barrel wet/damp for storing in safe. I clean the barrel prior to shooting. I could be nuts but my rifles seem to clean up better at the range when they are warm. Maybe becuase I am in the gunning/shooting mood. Maybe becuase I am not in a hurry before momma bear starts her bitching about stinking up the house. | |||
