Just spent a couple of days on the Flats pursuing Kafue Lechwe with Richard Bell Cross and after many hundreds of Lechwe, we finally settled on this one. He had everything - width, symmetry, and length. A very enjoyable outing and good to be under the stars again talking shit and having a few cold ones. We had an Argo which meant we could go deep into the wetlands and explore this fascinating country.

I’d think that is one of the less enjoyable hunts for a PH!

Looking at literally hundreds of them trying to pick one that is just a few inches bigger...

I was lucky, it took us a couple hours, and we saw one that was notably larger than anything.

We couldn’t get very close.

I was using a .375, and had to aim 18” over his back....

Kudos to the team on a great bull!

Not too difficult mate and besides we had a .330 Dakota on board.

.

Well done Sir ! You know that has to be one of the most enjoyable hunts we have done - wonderful animal, fascinating wetlands, simple camp and great red wines!

Need to repeat one day!

Ps how was the dirt road with that rig you towed in ?

Congratulations on a successful hunt.

I really enjoyed mine. I hunted with Abie.... Cool

We drove out at night, camped under the stars. When that thin pink line of dawn came, Abie was up making coffee.

He told me to get my rifle ready. I shot mine sitting in my bed. Roll Eyes

I shot my Black with Andrew in 2004. That's a long while back.

One of the few places where you have to take your own firewood!

Great trophy and looks like a great camp with friends

We camped out at Blue Lagoon in 2000 and shot the following day. In those days we didn't need to go far to shoot a nice lechwe bull.

On our Kafue Flats road trip with Andrew last year, I'm pretty sure I left a kidney behind on the roadside somewhere.

Andrew - congrats to you and Richard on a great lechwe!
