I saw the post on social media, Andrew had a client kill what appears to be a giant of a buffalo.

I can’t wait to see the pictures!

Hi Colin,

That was a few years back! It was recently copied and pasted from my account.

No. Those long, droopy, flat-ish horns are similar to other bulls I have seen that have been castrated or otherwise injured.

No slight intended. Just information.

I would say simply local genetics. However there was evidence that this buff had suffered a previous injury.

Wow

I thought that was a Tanzanian strain.

If I did not know a bit about genetics, I would suggest it was a hybrid with an Asian water buffalo! Smiler

Nice buff.
But, I wish some folks would stop trying to exaggerate their game by sitting way behind and taking photos from in front. In addition to the exaggeration, it distorts and degrades the pix;
ask a pro photog sometime.

I agree with you on that practice. A bit dishonest.

However, on this photo, you can see both the PH and hunter with their hands on the Buff, so that’s how close they are in this pic.

I wish other hunter would stop feeling the need to make stupid comments on others pictures and hunts even. I guess we all have wishes that may never come true.

It's a fairly valid point but I choose to have contact with the animal to put it in perspective. However, the camera can lie.

A bit like the Leopard photos and if you are not holding it then the size is anyone's guess

Wonderful bull. And that's one thing I love about buffalo. They are all different. Any mature bull is a trophy, but some are wide, some have big bosses, some have deep drops, and some, what I'm currently looking for is one that's worn completely smooth. Once in a long while, you find one that has it all. I'm still looking for that bull. Probably will be for the rest of my life.

Zambia and Northern Mozambique seem to produce better and better Buff every year. Testament of the success of the management plan of shooting Dugga boys only....
