I broke down and bought a new AR50A1 last week. Shot a box of PMC Bronze ammo through it. Man a Model 7 Remington in .308 kicks more than the AR50 does. I put a Vortex 30mm tube 6-24 x 50 scope on it. I got all the stuff to reload for it except for the powder which will be here Wednesday. The 4 inch thick concrete blocks don't stand a chance, they turn into mostly powdered stuff.

Thought there would be more interest in the AR50 and big 50's in general. Does anyone else have an AR50?

Yes, I do; I have the first one produced. It is the best rifle for the $. I also have the first new AR-10 and the first AR-30 built. All the same serial number.
In fact, I named the AR-50. For real.
Mine is very accurate with TW43, AP ammo. Yes, made in 1943.

That is super cool about the rifles. I have the first 22 lr Encore barrel OTT Technologies made without an adapter. It's marked 22 lr Match Prototype No Adapter.
I need to find me a place to shoot the beast, I shot it in the back yard at a little over 100 yds to sight in the scope. I can safely say I love this thing.

Last Summer we were there we had 93 straight days of triple digit temps. Not sure how accurate the thermometer was but one said 116*.

Congrats on getting your first 50BMG rifle.
I bought an AR-50 in 2006.
I bought a used State Arms Shorty in 2008.
The SA Shorty was a test bed rifle used for testing AR500 steel targets and was fired many thousands of times using surplus ammo of many types, which made a smoothbore out of it with no measureable rifling in first 14" of barrel. I re-barreled it using a Feddersen CM barrel and sold to a good friend who became interested in the 50. I also taught him to reload. Several years passed with another barrel replacement occurring with which he used in 2018 FCSA World Championships Match to shoot a 2.438" center-to-center, 5-shot group at 1000 yards (made me secretly wish I had not sold it) and I was very happy for him. (He died December 2021.) I sold his rifle to a young FCSA Member from Milwaukee WI.
But back to the AR-50, MINE !!!.
I wore out the stock barrel after 3800+ rounds downrange.
I re-barreled with a 34" Feddersen CM barrel. It shot better than (typical). Wore it out.
I Re-barreled with a 34" 1.75"dia K&P SS416R 1:14 twist tube and chambered with a reamer of my design. It shot well but I expected more.
I re-barreled again with a 38"+ 1.75"dia SS K&P 1:14 (was supposed to be 1:13 twist but errors occur) and had to lightly flute the barrel to make weight of assembled 50 pounds. I used this AR-50 setup to win the 2021 FCSA sanctioned match at the Arena Training Facility near Blakely Georgia. (This year's Match was recently cancelled.)
I will be at the FCSA World competition this year.
My FCSA handle is "OLDMAN".

Feel free to ask questions - I always try to help.

Wow, that is a lot of shooting. I really like this big 50. Not sure if this as far as I go in the big 50 world but this one if a ball so far.

I had one years ago. Left Hand, Green.

That POS Armalite brake blew so much crap back in my face, I sold it for that reason alone.

I have a Serbu semi-auto now. Its a nice rifle, with a nice brake on it.

I haven't been around any other 50's but that brake does take some consideration. I don't think you can ever get used to it.
The main thing I want to do is catch that guy that sneaks up and hits me in the face every time I shoot is and then runs off.
