I just finished viewing Mark's new DVD
Death in Full-Charge. I really enjoyed the quality of the Blu-ray Disc. It made the whole experience refreshing, different from the rest of the videos on the market. I really appreciate the fact that Mark gives an entire experience to his hunts. His style of hunting maybe not be for some, but it really appeals to me. I like the in-the-face, up-front, total experience to my hunts. Mark seems to be his own man with what he considers the right way to do things. This is so his hunts are a complete emotional and successful experience. He seems results oriented. And after all if we hunters were not results oriented we probably would not be successful in life. Which equates to being able to afford hunting trips. I really enjoyed the DVD and highly recommend it to others. Mark would be at the top of my list for a PH in Africa. I appreciate his wanting his clients to experience everything possible. I understand there will be some who disagree with this. But get over it. I could care less what you think about my review. Again there will be others who do. If you're wanting to be nurse-maided and pampered on your hunts, Marks probably not for you. I personally want my trophy hunting to be successful. But then I'm a results driven person. I trophy hunt for the oldest and biggest I can find. When that's not possible I come home empty-handed. It's just was not a successful hunt, period. I have not read very many hunting articles in magazines about unsuccessful hunts. We are all results driven to some extent. I've never met Mark, I'd like to some day. I enjoyed the DVD both its content and its quality. I recommend the DVD.

Mark accompanied Rick (pagosawingnut) on the Stu Taylor benefit hunt I hosted earlier this year. He was a super nice guy with a great sense of humor. We had an absolute blast with him. He had a lot to say about hunting methods. A lot of it makes sense to me.

I would go with him and I may well do so next year.

I would have to second Larry's opinion of Mark. If I could afford it, I would hunt with Mark in a heartbeat. Hell of a nice man.

Don,
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the content and quality of the Blu-ray Disc version of Death in Full-Charge! Your observation about Mark’s dedication and drive while hunting are spot on. I have and will continue to hunt with Mark. I can affirm that he works tirelessly in an effort to make things come together for all of his clients. Hunting the right way is far more important to Mark than simply killing and I believe this comes through to most people who enjoy his movies.

Best always,
Shawn

No Cal, I will let you lot fawn over your hero.

I have nothing against him as an individual, but his "hunting" style is not for me. beer

Mark makes hunting DG a lot simpler from what I have seen on his DVDs. You take a shot, and then he will kill your game for you...

I think there would be a lot less dead PH's today if they took a few tips from Marks style.

You can learn more about DG charge behaviour in 1 hour of his DVDs then you can in a lifetime of hunting.

I just wonder how one can learn anything from a man so impressed with himself, as he walks to a wounded buffalo right in the open and shoots.

How many times have we seen him do this in thick bush??

Hi Saeed

The choice to shoot it or where you take the shot from is still an individual choice, but the decision may be better informed if you understand the animal behavior and have mentally prepared yourself for what you are going to see.

It is true that there are many PH's in Africa today who would not recognise some of the vital behavioral signs that are there to keep them alive.

The fact that some guys are still shooting warning shots on charging animals speaks volumes to the fact that there is a lack of understanding of these vital behaviors.

Bottom line, if we take the egos and personal preferences out of the equation, the footage is invaluable in better understanding our prey and defending our clients.

The thing which puzzles us all is the fact that he gets so many wounded and charging animals.

Why don't the clients finish their own animals as when hunting with normal PHs?

He said it himself that his clients are terrible shots, so may be that explains the sort of client who wants to hunt with him and have him shoot the animals for them!

You said it yourself, all the videos are about his own ego, and his films can be used as an example of how NOT to hunt buffalo.

The mind boggles!

Wasn't he under investigation because of how many buffalo charges he has compared to everyone else? Rumor had it that he was either intentionally wounding them to get them to charge, or relying on bad shots by his clients to get them to charge. It makes for good video, but I would rather focus on a clean one shot kill then seeing how many bulls I could get to charge
