I'm looking at a few days chasing reds in the roar (or chital or pigs) up here in QLD as well as a few days in NSW state forest, exploring and hopefully getting on a deer. I also want to get onto a few goats in one of the state forest.

What's yours?

One of the things that has been on my bucket list for a few years is to go deep into the Outback with a good friend who lives in Tasmania. I would like to shoot a camel. I know that you remember our guide in Arnhemland starving us on a buffalo hunt so I will be bringing a suitcase full of food, just in case.

If I do not get the vaccines this year in time - another strange varmint on my bucket list is to hunt in the High Arctic with the Inuit and hunt a big bull walrus.

I am low on both of those critters.

Off to Stewart Island to hunt Whiteatil at end of march. Get home just in time for the peak of the fallow rut. Will have a crack at them with the longbow for a bit.
If the Fucken borders open before september, Im tempted to Give Gryph a yell and go see him and chase some sambar. Not bloody likely the way things are going though, so more likely Ill head south and try find the big Chamois Buck I missed out on with my bow this year.

Another tahr hunt in mid June into our favourite Jacobs River block I scored in the annual DOC ballot. A third son who's interest in hunting was piqued last duck season is getting himself equipped ready to accompany his two brothers, myself and a couple of their mates into the Southern Alps to freeze our balls off for a week in tents.
I'll be a few months off 70 then but still keen for another crack at those wily old tahr and the scenery is just superb, the camp a lot of fun and another chance to fly with that legend chopper pilot, James Scott.

James will be getting close to 70 himself.

Your post reminded me that I clean forgot about duckshooting. 1st weekend in May.

Late 2020 I hunted with my son on Molesworth Station for the first time. It was a great trip with very enjoyable hunting. We plan to hunt another Molesworth block this year.
After Molesworth we went a long way south and shot Wallabies in the Kirkliston hills. That was a heap of fun. Want to do more this year but hopefully not quite so far away.
Also trying to get a hunt organised for Tahr and will chase a few Sika too.
Maybe if international travel resumes this year I might go on one of my postponed hunts but it's not looking very likely just now.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

No , sir . There are far more sinister things at play here than any virus. This is just another step toward population-compliance-without-question , on the journey towards the Socialist Dream.

I see it more as a reduction in virus spreading.

In Eastern Australias case - probably correct . Here - its moved past a medical event and into a political control of the masses event . In my opinion , anyway.

Here its doing something, to cover the fact they have been poor at running quarantine and keep making mistakes.
If they announce lockdowns it sounds like they are onto it, yet the mistakes made that mean the lockdown was needed are been swept under carpet.
FFS we are a year into this crisis and they are still making stuff ups.

Just a report comparing Dubai with New Zealand.

Dubai being the most open, and New Zealand is the most restricted!

We are actually living normal lives here.

People can travel wherever they are permitted entry.

Hi Saeed,
Yes NZ is quite restricted, currently most restricted in the Auckland region which is NZ's most highly populated . It's a pity really and there is noticeable Lockdown fatigue among the population generally with the greatest impact felt by small business owners.
But with very few exceptions people are going along with it, if grudgingly, for the greater good. They are even reasonably forgiving of numerous government mistakes made in the course of "managing" Covid to date.
On the plus side we have promptly contained several small community outbreaks and kept hospital admissions and Covid deaths remarkably low. All largely due to the general population deciding to play by the rules. For sure it entails disruption and inconvenience but, so far, it's worked for us.
Good for you in Dubai if you are able to allow free population movement without spreading Covid around. Is this helped by your vaccination programme where I think you guys are far ahead of us and can therefore allow society to be relatively uncontained ? We are only just starting to vaccinate and won't hit any significant numbers until about June from what I hear.
Anyway, horses for courses I guess. It will be good when the world gets to being confident we really have Covid under control.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Poor Jacinda! Look at photos of her 4 years ago. Seems to have aged 10 years in the job. Perhaps it's being a mother as well as PM? I told an Ethiopian PH we had an unmarried mother as Prime Minister and he thought I was taking the piss!
Had hunt in Marlborough last weekend. Missed a Fallow buck at only 460 yards. Didn't allow enough for the wind. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Took a nice and even 20 point Red stag. Private land and a lot of farm genetics of course. Saw a number of very uneven farm type stags with more than 20 points. Lack of overseas hunters is making private land hunting affordable and the deer are getting older.
Going into Poronui Station for Sika in April. Much cheaper there now! I'm getting a bit past bashing through the scrub for a week to shoot a couple of hinds.
Still hoping to get to Uganda in August for Sitatunga and Nile Buffalo etc, but I'm not going until I've been jabbed.
Aunty Jacinda promised that we would be first in the queue for vaccine and now it looks like we will be last! Just another hollow promise from those who can really talk the talk but couldn't manage a corner shop!

Please explain in words of one syllable how to load said photo onto this site. Bearing in mind I'm a techno-dinosaur who has never learned how to send a text! My sister was a Professor of computer science, my son fixes computer systems and my son in law designs apps, but I only understand cows and land and have never wasted time on a computer until now. This could be the reason why I can afford to hunt in Africa every year and they cannot.
