I have known Dwight for many years, and he has been on safari with us many times.

He is with us in Dubai right now, heading to the Selous for another safari, as he wants to shoot another buffalo.

Sitting in our shooting range, I showed him a number of rifles he has not seen before.

Some he really liked - Sako and Kimber.

Others, when asked what he would do with them as he was examining them, he said "through it away"

First one to get this was a Blaser!

He said "who dreams up this stuff?" rotflmo

For a benchrest shooter I am quite surprised. My Blaser R93, is a VERY accurate rifle with all 3 barrels" 375 H&H, 300 WM and 7mm RM. My wife will sell that set AFTER I die!
"Who dreams up this stuff?" the Germans do, while Americans still think about the 1911! the only comparable innovation that comes to mind is the Darne shotgun. He would probably ask "who dreams this stuff up" about that shotgun as well!
Peter.

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

Fellers, I've known Dwight for many years and he has built competition rifles for me. Saaed will verify that Dwight has been in the dark country a time or 4. Blazers may be hunting rifle accurate, but they are just butt ugly! As a DGR rifle I would put my Enfield or Mauser against any others. A plains game rifle would be a Rem. 700 based rifle.

Why not - they are accurate rifles.

Other than saying "I have a blaser", what do they offer? Quick change barrel?

“I have a blaser” carries little weight on ar. The blaser haters lead by Saeed and Todd Williams will make life hell Big Grin. I know a few ar members who own blasers and love em but won’t admit on ar to owning them.

What I like and again it me centric

Accuracy - they are crazy accurate for a hunting rifle. Rifles inc like accuracy. PRS accurate but not benchrest accurate.

Scope mounting - best scope mounting platform

Barrel switching - I like shooting one gun a lot instead of many guns. I own many guns Wink

I like straight pulls - I own a lot of k11 and k31 rifles

Removable trigger

Safety - cocker and decocker. Gun won’t go off with decocked gun.

I really really like the professional success stock.

What I don’t like

Fancy wood on r8 rifles or any wood.

Expensive barrels that add no change in accuracy - match, fluted, ect

With platform guns there are bits and pieces and one can forget pieces

Are they good rifles - yes. Are they expensive rifles - yes. Are they worth the money - depends on the person.

For me they are. Main reason I trust the safety and I don’t have to deal with gunsmiths. There are no wood and metal gunsmiths around central Florida. I would have to mail guns to Montana ect. I also like straight pull actions.

I'm glad that you are happy. If everybody liked one brand there wouldn't be Chebbies, Ferdes, and bimmers.
