I have a chance to do a hunt in Ireland next fall but know very little about the hunting there. In what part of the country is most hunting done? I understand that the most abundant deer are sika and fallow (with a few reds), and that feral goats are a popular quarry. When is a good time for wood pigeons, and can they be combined with deer/goats?

Deer season is from September 1st to December 31st for stags and bucks.
From November 1st to February 28th for hinds and does.
Wicklow is where most of the deer in Ireland are shot. The county holds Sika and Fallow and a number of hybrids (Sika/red deer cross)
Pigeons are generally shot in July or August when they are causing crop damage to arable farms.
Otherwise the season for birds is November 1st to January 31st. Although duck and partridge may be shot in September and October.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi Stonecreek

Have a look at my package offers in Outfitters - Offered and Discounted hunts section.

I book hunts for an outfitter in County Wicklow and have three Accurate Reloading groups booked already for October and November this year.

If your interested in a quote from one of the packages I'm offering send me an email and I will be happy to help.

With kind regards
Mike

Here are some of the packages I offer.

I have the new prices for the below packages in Glenmalure, County Wicklow, Ireland for the 2020/2021 season. The available species are Irish Red Stags, Japanese Sika Stags and a Hybrid of the two. The hunting season is September 1st – December 31st. Also available are Hinds and Cull Stag hunts from November 1st – February 28th.
The private hunting area is free range and covers 20,000 acres and is surrounded by 50,000 acres of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. My outfitter has the sole hunting rights to the area.
The hunting grounds are located about one hour and fifteen minutes south of Dublin. Hunters would stay at The Glenmalure Lodge which is a short ten-minute drive to the hunting area. For the 5 night, 4 day hunts we normally book hunters in on a Sunday, hunt Monday through Thursday and depart on Friday unless your adding days to your hunt.
