Just returned from a tour of monterias in Portugal.

Mostly wild boar with a few deer and one that included mouflon.

Took my ruger No 1 450/400 loaded with 350 grain swift aframes just for sport. Knife by Hudson blades.

One monteria was arranged through Virgina Rodriques from Monteros de la Cabra

All otheres were arranged by Edgar cordeiro who post here as 500 jeff

Was a great time, met a lot of people. Did some sightseeing and was visited by my wife and sister ( who each accompanied me on a hunt) during my stay.

Looks a great time. Not everyone "understands" Monteria's but I think are great fun.

Looked like a cool trip! Thanks for posting the pics.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Looks fantastic! The head-holder-uppers make a lot of sense to keep the antlers off the concrete.

Not knowing what a Monteria was, I did a little search and found this from the late Simon of WR. Your account and this Explora addition really filled in the blanks and looks like an extremely enjoyable hunt in an enjoyable social atmosphere.

Shoot straight, shoot often.
