Got an email today from Swiss hunting authorities... I drew an Alpine Ibex (Bouquetin) for this coming season, in a few weeks - woohoo!

In rainy Mumbai now, and just makes life better.

Now, just need to figure out, flights, guns, permits, gear, etc... Wink

Congratulations!
I drew an Alpine Chamois tag in Valais and am really looking forward to it.
I will put in for an Ibex tag soon.
Do they set a specific size or sex for the Ibex to be taken?

Thanks! Really looking forward to this hunt!

No, it's a ram tag, you stalk + hunt on the mountain.

Its Switzerland - so efficient!

You download the form from the Canton's website, and fill out the simple 1-page questionnaire... its what they should all be like. Take a look and tell me we don't have a ton to learn!

Then, if drawn, you get a letter / email, asking you to contact the Jaeger / State Game Keeper. You set a date with him / her to hunt together and off you go...

That's a far as I've gotten thus far. Will post a report after the hunt (mid September)

Are you ready for your hunt? All the best!

Juste helped a guy to recover this ram (6 1/2 years old, 50 kg) in the neighboring canton of Uri – this was a preseason cull hunt. Unfortunately the animal had a beginning desease, but it was still in pretty good shape.

Tomorrow, september first, the hunting season for Ibex will start here. But at the moment the weather is terrible. So I have to be patient for another day, until I can go hunting.
