dan belisleI use the 7x64 sometimes on Alberta whitetails and mulies, it basically is a Euro version of the 280 rem (or vice versa). On those little deer, I don't see any problem. - dan

MarkHThe 7x64 is an excellent caliber foe all medium sized game and has taken more than its fare share of large antilope in Africa Kudu/Eland.Nice and flat shooting out to 300 yds. Ballistically its similar to the 280 remington which came later. So for reloading use the 280 load data.
I use custom all copper bullets similar to a tuned up Barnes TSX. On 55 gns RL15 I achieve 3353 fps and with a 2"holdover at 100 yds I'm 2" low at 282yds

Steve MalinverniHi,
I use in mine Vith N540 with the 140grs bullet.
Min load 57grs to max load 62grs. The last one is hot be carefull.
But I'm not a fan of this caliber. However you can pu down with it 200/300 Kg animals. I used it to take my red Deer, and it was a 250kg bull.

450/400 Jeffrey'sFinn Aagaard was very fond of this caliber, and comming from a man with his experience in Africa, that is a strong endorsement. It will do anything that you would do with a .270 Winchester, a 7mm-08 or .280 Remington. Deer in the SE? No problem! You could do up to Elk size with little difficulty.

RSEKI have had very good luck with the calibre and don't think that deer sized animals would be any problem, with proper bullet placement.
