I shoot a .577 Snider. The bullet is a 500-grain cast from a mould by Martyn at x-ring services. My loads are 20 grains of Unique or 82 grains of FFg GOEX. My Sinider is shot from a 6" barrel double howdah pistol. I just ordered a double rifle in the same cartirdge and it is on the way.

Martyn's mold is a very good one for Snider owners to have. Recommend him highly.

I have a howdah pistol in .577 Snider and this week took delivery of a Rodda double rifle in the same caliber. I use the same bullets and brass but the loads are different.

For the howdah I shoot 2-3 drams of FFg GOEX or 20-23 grains of Unique; both with 500 grain bullets from an excellent mould cut my Martyn of X-Ring. I also received the brass from him, too. The 3 dram load kicks like hell and the 23 grains of Uniques is also quite a kicker. The lower loads of both powders are fun to shoot but remember with a 6-inch double barrel pistol accuracy will never be really good (even though the howdah as a two leaf rear sight; the folding leaf for long range shooting).

I started to reload for the double rifle just yesterday and it will take a bit to tweak to an accurate load. With the same 500-grain bullet 3 drams of FFg is not accurate. While the formula calls for 33 grains of IMR 4198, that load shot a bit wide at 40 yards. 35 grains was not much better but 40 grains did bring the group together a bit. It shoots high but that's expected using the 100 yard leaf at 40 yards.

Damn, it's nice to shoot a double that has mild recoil.

If any of you fellas are in the market for a double rifle I have four for sale in the classifieds and several more at home. Also, three English double shotguns in 12, 10, and 8-bore.

Cheers, all. Martyn can make the mould that would work just right in your rifle.
