I've been lucky enough to acquire several of Tim's creations. So a while back when he made it known that he would be making some knives, and exhibited some patterns, I told him that the 5" skinner was for me. I liked the buffalo horn scales on the 52100 "Buffalo Skinner" and asked if he would do one with that material. I find that when it gets wet, whether with blood or gore, it becomes tacky and the grip is excellent for the type of skinning I do. It was a couple weeks after Tim sent the knife before I had the opportunity to use it on my favorite test medium....... hoglets. A bud an I went to the Petting Zoo on a Wednesday to fill feeders and set traps and snares. I shot a boar Wednesday eve, but he did not drop at the shot and ran into the scrum. I looked for blood at the point of impact, but saw none, so being as it was close to dark-thirty, I did not try to track. However, Thursday morning I nailed this boar..... I had walked in and did not have my 4-wheeler so I left him where he dropped. My bud picked me up and we ran the pens and traps. No joy. I had Bill take me back to camp to get my ATV and I came back and dragged him up to a shady spot to open him up and take the loins........... The skinner did a fine job on cutting thru the hide. And pulling out the back straps. I mentioned to Tim on the phone, I don’t usually push with a skinning knife, but I thought I’d try cutting the hide and fat along the backbone pushing. It cut with ease. ya! GWB

GW, good post. I have a similar knife by Tim Olt in M4 and really like it. Got used to using the drop point hunters for so many years and got this knife and, wow, it can really do some serious cutting

Geedubya, Have you noticed the M4 developing a light patina after some use? Anyone else with an M4 blade? Mine seems to be getting that way.

GW tried to send you a PM. Do you have one of Tim's Lovless bullnose/Nessmuks? I am thinking about ordering one. I have a regular Loveless.

I think I have 5 Tim Olt's. 1 of the 5 inch skinners 2 or 3 Loveless hunters 2 Loveless bullys I wish he would sculpt the handles like a Loveless, but for $240 they are perfect. Buy with confidence, you never know when the knives you order from him will be done. Most are done in 2-4 months, sometimes longer. He is a fellow veteran. Buy with confidence (not because he is a veteran but because he is a nice guy, who makes a good knife).

I believe, but I am not 100% sure that he is currently banned. He has been banned at least one other time. Unless something more human happened to him, and I don't remember seeing that. I don't know him from anyone, other than he and I have similar taste in knives. He buys a lot more knives than I do. I can only speculate, but I think he was a big fan of the political forum, and as such said or did something unforgivable. As this was his modus operendi last time. Maybe wrong, but that is what I believe.

You can find him on the 24-hour Campfire forums. I miss his photo essays here. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

My understanding is that G-dub's anti-jab opinions/political views ran contrary to what Walterhog would countenance. Consequently, after 20 years, he was tossed for a throw-away post. As mentioned in a previous post from time to time he posts on RokSlide and 24HourCampfire.

I love seeing your pictures but they are so big that I cant see all of the knife at once on my computer. I have to scroll over to see the blade, then the handle.

I am going to order a couple of skinners like yours. Neither one of mine have bolsters like that. I have 2 Olt Loveless hunters and 2 Olt loveless bully hunters (Nesmuk), and 2 olt skinners. They are among my favorite all time knives.
