i have come across some old green river knives and would like to clean them up and keep them from rusting. any help would be great thanks.

I use everyday mineral oil on my carbon steel blades. It`s cheap, non toxic and available at any drug store.

If you're keeping them as collectors and not for using, don't do anything to them. Keep them dry and old looking. In my stupid past I cleaned up a 12 inch carbon chefs knife, I wish I had never touched it.
