This is/was a lamp post brought back from Africa many years ago. It is made of Ebony and has ivory or fake ivory inlays. The base at some point got wet and has cracked. Some of the other parts are broken as well.

Not sure what it is worth but it is very heavy/dense.

Would this be any good for handles?

You don't have to get ebony wet to crack it .Over time it can do it all by itself !! Can you get enough uncracked area for handles ? It may not be too bad as the stresses are now gone ! Wink

Thanks,

The base did get wet and that is what we thought caused the cracks.....but maybe not The other pices do not seem to have any cracks.

Thought maybe there would be enough wood in some pices for someone to use.
