I am fortunate in having a source of raw giraffe bone straight from South Africa. Have a half dozen handles worth in the hot cupboard.

I may need some come my next birthday or Christmas. Also the first knife with the metal curved bolster makes me drool too. I see a paring knife in my future...

Some beautiful wood on the way. Spent some time this morning selecting some more exhibition grade handle blocks. This is part of the selection with gold and dark Koa, box elder, spalted maple, and hickory burl among them. As always the pic does not really show the spectaculer colours and contrasts that is reveasled when it is in hand but Jason Williams does short videos of the blocks I select, turning them in all directiosn so I can get a full picture of what is offered.

Some rather nice blister maple on this order with a customer wanting these AH EDC's for his brothers and father and then a Hunter skinner dressed with Spalted buckeye and all in the new design 10* horrizontal carry sheath. The AH EDC's have the lanyard tube with 4 snake knot and bead to assist with retrieve from the sheath but the Hunter Skinner has more blade length/balance in front of the carry point that it dose not need the extra depth (length of sheath ahead of the belt loop) that may make it less carryable than the way it is.

I have a knife that sits deep in a leather sheath like that one and it needs the square braid lanyard to quickly deploy tip up
and tip down depending on how I grip the lanyard/knife junction.

It probably could have been better with a lanyard but the customer wanted the deep set sheath as he had lost a couple of knives from lessor sheaths and wanted the security but there was no mention of a lanyard and with it not something usually being part to this pattern I did not even think of it during the design process.

Finally able to get this order done and sharpenedafter hold-ups with the handle material. A full set of the kitchen knives plus a 1911 grip set from the little 3 inch peeler through the His n Hers table knives, 4 inch and 5 1/2 inc general purpose, 5 1/2 inchh chef, 7 1/2 inch chef, 71/2 inch nakiri to the bearded chef. All have blades of croyo treated NitroV (bar the bearded chef that was freezer treated as it dosent fit in the neck of the liquid nitrogen container) and all with Resin Ivory handles.
I started again on the 1911 grip set as I wasn;t happy with the first set and it was night and day difference on the mill as oppsed to the dripp press.

That’s what I call a set of knives!
Maybe you can now make a 1911 series using the new grips you just made for larger knives.
Who would not want a chef knife with pistol grips?

One thing that is blatantly obvious and amazing is you get over 9” of blade length for about the same overall length as a steak knife with the bearded chef knife. It is truly unique and can do so much.

Been playing with a new design for police rescue. Will be from cryo treated 4.8mm NitroV so plenty stout and with the low sabre grind will leave a good edge. The glass breaker behind the handle is square to the centerline so will be a platform to hammer against if the need is to drive the tip into a vehicle pannel and I may even look at kydex for the sheath as the micarta handle will be another first with textured/scalloped finish.

Question…
Is this a customer design?
I have some possible input for the rescue aspect but not so much the police side for a future spin on the concept.

Not a customer design but one I came to after some thought and a bit of feedback from a police/customer who is in the shop watching his hunting knife being made on his days off.
