The forge is closed until the temp gets under a hundred degrees. 109 in the shade yesterday; supposed to be hotter today.
Couple for the Plano Invitational. Anybody in decent driving distance come by and look at nice knives; some really top drawer people showing their craft. Willow Bend Mall; Sat. 9-5 don't know how to do links. driving

GW; When you see the Devil chugging Gatorade you know that the forging is over. I might have been hallucinating but I am not chancing it. Getting too old to cut the mustard.
Stabilized Koa on the bottom one.

Beautiful knives.
Really love the pattern in both even they are so far different.
It is interesting what one can see in the patterns of the first one.
The stem and leaf pattern in the second is OUTSTANDING

Approximately 70 of my tenants are Hispanic. There are a number of Abuelas that cook with lard who are my tenants.

I make sure that I supply them with the hinds from the hoglets I shoot.

They in turn make me pork tamales, the old way!

Was in Plano yesterday; 113 deg. Went outside this morning at 4:30; already 83 and climbing.
It's beginning to get stupid around here.
looking at GW's pictures I think he would have to fill out a questionnaire
before I ate some of his cooking!

They are made by the opening poster, Mike Williams, of Broken Bow, Ok. He is an Am. Blade Society master smith. Not surprisingly, he makes some fine knives.
Check out his web site:

My daughter is now sentenced to work in Madison, Wis. She drives a Dodge Charger. Obviously a 2 wd. She has never been around weather like winter in Wis. She preferred not to live in a freezer. Do you have any suggestions for winterizing, tires, etc?

Yes sell the charger by a SUV.

Any good tire shop well sell her a proper set of snow tires.

Great idea!! Do you want to lend her the money? Her credit is excellent.

BTW we just boought Subaru Forester and I absolutely love it. All WD and 8 1/2 inches ground clearance.

Bridgestone Blizzaks typically get high rating for dedicated winter tires. Was considering some for the car I send daughter no. 1 to school with this year, but will wait to see how much snow she gets and how much she tries to drive in it.

I don't own any true winter tires, so check the reviews for yourself.

We have had a Subaru Outback since 2012 and it has given good service despite being driven in large part by my daughters.

Wait and see how much snow Madison gets. rotflmo Not if but when.

She well be driving on in snow, on snow, around snow.

I was in Madison Dec. 1st 1991 on business 18 inches fell starting about midnight and during the day.

I almost had to spend the night in our radio shop. Was struck in Madison for an extra day. My BIL came and picked me up in his 4x4 and took me back to the motel at 10pm.

On the 300 mile trip back north hundreds of vehicles in the ditch. for the first 100 miles then things cleared up.

She could be driving in snow starting in late Oct.

I also would recommend she run them on all four makes handing in snow easier.

I see a lot of vehicles in the ditch because the drivers thought they would wait.

My department required snow tires be put on by November 1st.

On are SUV's we ran them year around.

Besides the tire shops well be jammed after the first snow storm.

I would start shopping mid Oct with a mounting Date around Nov. fist.

Even something with front-wheel drive would do a lot better than her Charger. It will be a lot fun for three seasons. She will just have learn how to not give it very much gas from a stand-still. Once it looses traction it won't take long to get stuck. She will also learn to coast as long as possible and try not to come to a complete stop. I drove a 2WD Chevy pickup in high school in the Chicago suburbs while in HS. I never got stuck.

The charger will be a doughnut machine in snowy road/parking lots. It is a ton of fun if you are planning on doing it, at least for a teenage boy!
