Does anyone here own or know of Clay Gault? He passed a few years ago, but he made some beautiful knives with African handles and sheaths. He wore an old beat up hat to the shows.

My dad has a number of his knives. I suppose the purpose of this thread is just to see if any of you have his artistry.

I remember him well. I always meant to get one of his knives from him. He taught me to mortise tang my handles.

Spent many an afternoon with him in the '80s at his table at the Houston GS.Would always have a table next to deLeon.Between both of them I never left there with any money.All my fixed&folders had oosic grip/scales;think he used a lot of oosic.Frank Hendricks would engrave the hilts/bolsters for him.Clay also made a caping set,case hardened with colors left on handles in a neat elephant pouch.REALLY nice kit!Super knifesmith.
