Ya know, one has to watch those Menefee boys.

I got a package in the mail the other day from Rocky Menefee. A little while later I get a call from him sayin’ that he had sent me some knives.

He sez, “take a look, see if ya’ like any. If so tell me which ones, and send the rest back. Then I’ll let you know what you owe me.

So without further ado, here’s what he sent me.

Let me know which ones you would keep.

Semi Skinner: Snakewood, 154, AEB-L steel,

Semi Skinner: Stag, 154 CM steel

Skinner: Dyed Bone,W2 steel and a nice hamon.

Boner: Jigged black paper micarta, 154CM steel

Filet: Jigged g10, 154CM steel

Before I tell ya’ which I’m keeping a short anecdote…………...........

It’s a story about Pablo and Juan.

Seems Pablo and Juan are friends from a certain country down south. A good number of years back they each motivated north to seek their fortune.
Each day they go to the intersection of a major traffic artery. Plenty of cars going to and fro, but caught at a long light. This gives Pablo and Juan lot of time to walk by with their sign asking for money.

Well this has gone on for a number of years.

Pablo lives in a fine house. His wife drives a Cadillac Escalade and his kids go to private school.

Juan however is barely making ends meet. His wife has to make her own tortillas from masa and his kids look like rag-a-muffins on their way to catch the bus to school.

Finally one day Juan asks Pablo “how come you do so good and I do so bad. We both panhandle the gringos for dinero.

Pablo sez to Juan, let me see your sign.

Juan does. His sign says……… will work for food, anything will help.

Pablo sez to Juan, no, no, no, you’re doing it all wrong. Here is the sign I use………

So, although I’d luv to stay and hear your answers, my sign and I gotta go to work to pay Rocky for ALL those knives. LOL

Nice batch of knives. I believe I'd keep the stag-handled semi-skinner. The micarta-handled boning knife would be a close second choice.

I tend to favor the boner style he has there.

If I had to keep one it would be because of the wood on the semi-skinner. I would like the fillet knife but I would be seriously concerned about the amount of metal in the blade and then the amount of metal to be removed that sharpening would require for the cutting edge angles.

Nice work on the sheaths on the first two.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Is there a problem with keeping them all?
We all know you're a sucker for a beautiful knife (knives).

AS an aside,
I must have been a breast fed baby, cause I still like "mother's milk"

Spoke with Rocky last week. He said he had a blade that was hafted in Coconut husk micarta.

I said I'd never seen such. Well now I have.........

Here it is, along with one of my "not ready for prime-time" sheaths.

Blade is ATS-34. Super thin hollow grind.

It should cut like a scalpel.

I do believe this is the sharpest blade I have received from Rocky to date.

Best,

GWB

I love the coconut husk micarta! Very cool!
There are no flies on your "not ready for prime-time" sheath. Looks fine to me. I like the rugged look.
