1st prize
A friend just won a first place prize in a national competition. His name is Valentin Baretta and the name of the piece is "Halcon en Picada". It means "stooping falcon".

Beautiful.....and would be quite handy as a skinning piece....if one dared get it dirty.

Very beautiful piece of work.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

John,

Does he have a website that you can order knives from? Impressive work.

How is the hunting going this year? Has the drought hurt the dove/pigeon hunting?

Art.

Also I would translate it as Diving Falcon

Yeti,
yes diving is a good translation. Stoop is also good as it specifically means:

stooped, stoop·ing, stoops
v.intr.
To swoop down, as a bird in pursuing its prey.

Their are other much more comon uses as you know but when applied to birds of prey the above definition applies.

Brant,
He doesn't have a web site but you can reach him at: valentinbaretta@yahoo.com.ar

In the region I hunt the drought has been real bad on the duck hunting and moderately bad on the perdiz but has not affected the dove or pigeon hunting. Many farmers have let the crops stand because they were not worth harvesting and the doves and pigeons are cleaning up on the sorghum.
