I've always carried a smaller knife. 3 inch drop point, or a folder was all I needed to break down a deer.
A few years ago, I went on an over night bivy with a friend who showed me some new uses for a heavy knife.
Basically, he uses a knife almost like a light ax.

So I decided to pick up a "heavy" bushcraft type knife.
After some research, I decided on a "Bark River", "Bravo 1", and it arrived today.
Man, this is one serious, thick knife.

That's a .338 Win Mag for comparison.
I paid extra for the nice, leather sheath. I don't care for Kydex.
